So long ago, I don't remember when

Miroku looked at himself in the mirror. Even though he wasn't getting older, he was could see he was aging. It would seem the well froze his life, things of the past didn't really belong in the future, did it?

It was cruel really.

He washed his face, smirked at himself and then lean over the sink, deep sadness washing over him. He looked at his wedding ring, a cold reminder, but a sweet promise.
He left the bathroom and got ready for another day of a slow but ok life; it could be worst? No, somedays he thought death would be better. But then there was Kagome.

His best friend. She was lonely too.

It happened years ago, so long he lost count. Nothing went the way it was planned. She only had time to save one, it was him, though he wished otherwise, but it was too late for anyone else.

They ran to the well; he remembers the day, fear, true fear rose in him that day. Some days he wondered if he should have stayed and died, but then their deaths would have been in vain. They didn't know if the well would allow him to pass, but it did, to both of their surprise.

The first thing he did when he landed on the other side was trying to dig his way back, calling Sangos name. She cried too, quite unlike him. She stayed with him as he cried through the night. They both had nightmares about it.

This time and place were cruel, hard. But she and her family helped him adjust and Kagome, being Kagome stayed by his side. He had nowhere to go, no family, no money, no life, she was all he knew. He can still see Sangos face, even though it has been so so long, he can still see it, hear her voice. He long ago decided he would never father children, that dream was long gone.

He was so glad Kagome had photo's of her, of all of them. Some days it was to hard though, and they would lay the photos down.

He was a blessed man, and he never once forgot his blessings.

Miroku headed to work, when he entered the building he sighed, today he would finally meet his big boss that was never around.

Life was much harder now.

"He's ready for you now sir."

Miroku picked up his breif case and walked in, the door closed behind him.

When one door closes another one opens. The well closed years ago, but as Miroku looked up, his breif case fell. There in all his glory was great Lord Sesshomaru. Yes the well closed years ago, but then again Sesshomaru was never one for following laws of the Kamis, maybe that was why he always got what he wanted.

Miroku wondered if he would remember him, after all, it happend so long ago.
