Green

As a child Lee had always found green an intriguing color. Intriguing, not his favourite. It was the color of life and had a calming tone to it, but he fancied the livelier shades of red and orange more.

The day Gai-sensei presented his team with the jumpsuits he was pleased, but in the back of his mind he complained about the color. Although green was youthful, it didn't seem to have the invigorating energy that red or orange possessed.

Lee chose to grin and bear it, not wanting to upset the man he admired most. Every day he trained in the green suit, ate meals in it, and even wore it to bed. He was obsessed with the youthful feelings it gave him, so he happily looked past the color.

The day of the chunin exams Lee's views on the color green were rewritten. A pink flash in his peripheral vision was the moment Lee's life changed forever. Attention caught, Lee turned and was instantly smitten.

Those luscious shining locks. That breath-taking smile. Those luminescent eyes. Viridian eyes.

Green was Lee's new favourite color.

Love is not blind.

Infatuation is blind; Love is all-seeing and accepting.

This was the revelation Sakura had many years after the fateful chunin exams. She knew she had been infatuated with Sasuke, but only recently did she realize that that infatuation had blotted out the love she felt. Her love for green and especially the boy she associated with it.

Love is seeing all blemishes and accepting them. Now as an adult she understood this and knew she never saw the flaws in Sasuke, let alone did she accept them. She did see the flaws or little quirks that made up another man though. The way he would speak too loud, push himself too far, or that green jumpsuit. Beneath these flaws though, was a well meaning friend.

Sakura had grown to love his exuberance and dedication. She had even grown to love that green jumpsuit.
