Broken.

Broken was a word that Leah understood. She knew the meaning in the dictionary, the hidden subtleties, the secret meanings and the deep, dark undercurrent. She knew all about the many different ways something could be broken. But most importantly she understood what it felt like to be broken.

Leah Clearwater was broken. She had been broken too many times and far too long ago, and no one even remember her not being broken. Leah understood the harsh, painful intricacies of being broken. Leah also understood that anything broken could be fixed.

So Leah let Jacob Black fix her.
