Almost Caged

As she lay,

in her sleep,

she did dream,

of the day,

her rescue,

would come,

to wake her up,

from the enchantment.

With the apple, poisonous,

caught in her throat,

she lay,

as in dead,

wishing someone,

anyone,

would check her airway.

Dancing every night,

was tiring,

she didn't want to dance,

at night,

she wanted to sleep,

but she didn't know how,

to stop,

herself or her sisters.

Stuck in the palace,

not allowed out,

when all she wants,

to do,

is to be free,

like a bird,

to flee and be free,

from being a princess,

forced to marry.

Up in her tower,

with nothing to do,

no way to get out,

at least,

not by herself,

nothing to cut,

her long hair off,

even,

to make it a rope.

In the ocean,

she must stay,

the land unsafe,

though that is where,

her heart lies,

no way to live,

above for long,

for now she must wait.

Honour for her family,

is important to her,

but she always,

seems to fail,

she just wants to be herself,

but that is not proper.

Forced to the attic,

and to work,

she toils for,

her step-mother's whim,

if she knew where,

she could run to,

she'd be gone,

'til then,

she works hard.

How can she,

do the impossible,

even if she span all night,

what could she do,

to get out of it,

her father's lie,

surely she shall die,

in the morning.

Beautiful she's called,

until she speaks,

wise knowing words,

smart,

but no place,

for it,

out of place,

always has been,

she feels trapped,

inside herself,

because of this.

Can you tell which fairy tales they are? Some are more general and others are more of the Disneyfied ones.
