It took a long time, getting over her.
Dean never meant to love her that much, so much he told her the whole truth and hoped it wouldn't matter.
For a long time afterward, he didn't sleep with anyone. That wound still bled.
But the rebound, when it came, was whiplash sharp— woman after woman. Behind closed eyes they all had Cassie's face.
Leaving in the dark where he couldn't see them, he swore it was for the best.
"Hair of the dog," and he'd stop missing her.
"Hair of the dog," and another woman might finally take her place.
