Siblings

Amy was getting ready for her date with Jet when she heard a knock at the door of her room. "Who is it," she called, turning from her mirror.

"Big Bro," the a familiar voice called, and with a smile, Amy skipped to, and opened the door. Sure enough, there her big brother Sonic was. "Hi, Baby Sis" he smiled and hugged Amy.

"Hey, Bro. What are ya doing here," Amy asked, after hugging him back. "I told you I'd be on a date today with Jet."

"Oh yeah, I know…I was just…coming over to say…hi," Sonic lied.

"Bro…," Amy smiled. "Look, I know you don't like it, but Jet's not a bad guy," Amy said turning back to the mirror to put her make-up on.

Sonic, knowing his cover was blown, shrugged. "I don't know that, but that's kinda not why I don't like him. It's just…," Sonic looked thoughtful.

"Yeah," Amy asked, turning to him.

Sonic blushed. "I just don't think he's good enough for you, is all," he said, after a minute.

Amy giggled. "You realized you said the same thing about Shadow, Scourge, and Silver," Amy reminded him.

"Yes, and I stand by it," Sonic laughed. "You're my sister, so I'm probably always going to be like that. Sorry," he said.

Amy shook her head. "Don't be sorry. I love that you care about me so much," Amy said walking him over to the bed, and hugging him. "Thanks, Bro."

"No problem, Sis," Sonic said returning the hug. "Ya know, I still say you'd probably be happier if you maybe dated Rouge. Or Tikal. Or maybe even Blaze," he joked.

"Bro," Amy joking pushed him. "Blaze is like my…Aunt, Rouge has a boyfriend, and Tikal is straight."

"As far as you know," Sonic laughed, as did Amy. "Ah…still Sis, I know you like this guy, and I'm not gonna try and stop you from seeing him. He makes you very happy, somehow, and I wouldn't want to take that away."

Amy smiled, and nodded. "Yeah…he's a pretty nice guy. Thanks for understanding, bro."

"No problem," Sonic smiled. "Anyway, I should get going. You have a date to get to," he said, getting up to leave.

"Kay." Amy gave Sonic one last hug as he left. "Text you later, bro."

"Later, Sis," Sonic smiled, returning the hug, as he left.

Later…

"Thanks for the Ice Cream, Jet," Amy said, enjoying her vanilla waffle cone.

"Yeah…sorry, I forgot my wallet," Jet said, turning away.

Amy laughed. "It's fine." Then, just out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a flash of blue.

Sonic was hiding behind a nearby building, making sure Amy was safe. "I know I shouldn't, but I'm just looking out for her," he argued to himself.

Amy smiled, well aware Sonic was watching them. "Silly brother," she thought to herself.

"Hm? Something up," Jet asked, unaware of Sonic's presence.

"Nah. It's nothing," Amy said, as she continued her date, knowing her big brother was looking out for her.
