The land was dark. Rays of twilight had blotted out the moon and no stars dared to shine upon the doomed land of Hyrule. Gerudo Dessert would have been completely silent if it weren't for a young man that sat on the ledge of the mirror tower.
His equipment lay discarded behind him. His belt was unfastened so that his old green tunic hung limply about his body. He breathed a deep sigh, and laid his hands behind his head, relaxing in the peace of the night.
"You where right," He said, seemingly talking to himself, "Twilight isn't all that bad."
A giggle erupted from his shadow, and echoed off the surrounding stone walls. The boy's shadow began to morph until it formed the shape of a small imp-like creature, no taller than three feet. Its legs dangled in mid-air as it stood, or more floated, next to the boy.
"I knew you'd come to like it." She giggled the same shrill giggle, "Are you still planning on defeating Zant, or are you just going to leave your world like this."
The boy pretended to contemplate the decision, a mocking smile stretching across his face. "I don't know, Midna." He teased, "I might just leave it this way."
"Maybe you're not so much of a hero after all," Midna teased back, "You're letting every one in Hyrule down, Link. Even your precious Zelda. Tsk, tsk."
Link glared at her, "Now what makes you say that I like Zelda?"
Midna rolled her eyes in mock disbelief, "Well she is a princess, and any normal guy would go gaga over her." She made an expression that said Duh, and Link swung his arm around in an attempt to smack her aside the head.
"Then again," Midna screamed in an attempt to save her self from Link's continuous blows, "You're not a regular guy." Link cocked an eye brow at her, "Oh come on, Link! Your Hyrule's hero! Not just any kid saves both Hyrule and Twilight!"
At this, Link turned his head away, no longer being playful, "How do you know that I'll succeed?" His voice was filled with his doubts about his ability.
Midna was not about to deal with his self pity, "Link, I could list a bunch of stuff that makes it so that I know you'll do well. But all that is just ledged that if you wanted to you could easily contradict me on." She turned to face the hero, "You're a great guy, Link. You'll do alright." She paused for a moment, "Plus, you've got me." Realizing what she had said, Link took a swipe at her again, back to his playful mood.
"Thanks, Midna." He stood, causing his shadow to sway from the movement, "Ready?" Midna nodded, handing him some of his scattered equipment. Dissolving back into the ground, the imp left with one final giggle. The green clad hero climbed the stares to where the Mirror of Twilight sat. Rays of light spurred from its center, engulfing the boy and the imp.
The land lay quiet once again as the both vanished from the world of light as dust. Only the sages, perched upon the minarets of the Mirror tower, saw the two come and leave. The sages bowed there heads, as the Hero of Time and the Twilight Princess departed the world of light.
Just a short drabble I whipped out this morning. Lame title, I know, sorry I couldn't think up anything better.
