A quick one shot after Scott reunited with Cassie and in their minds when that scene went down
Scott couldn't believe his eyes. His name was on there. His own name. People think he's dead. But he's right there, people can see him.
Oh my god, am I a ghost
Scott: what?
Scott then realized that, he was gone way longer than five hours. And his family might be gone. He just stood there for a moment, looking at his name on there. Was his family okay? He ran away from the scene with the wagon still in his hands.
He stopped in the middle of the forest and threw the wagon across the place. He was furious at himself. He was beaming red. He kept slapping his forehead being mad of how much of an idiot he was.
He ran to a tree and kept punching and kicking and ramming into it beginning to talk to himself and the dumb things he's done with his life.
Scott: FIRST, YOU STEAL FOR YOUR SICK DAUGTHER, THEN YOU GET ARRESTED, THEN YOU GET DIVORCED, THEN, YOU GET OUT OF PRISON, ONLY TO GET FIRED AND BEGIN TO STEAL AGAIN LIKE THE DUMBASS YOU ARE, THEN, YOU BECOME A HERO ON ACCIDENT JUST TO SEE YOUR DAUGHTER AGAIN, THEN, YOU BECOME A "HERO" TO SAVE OTHER PEOPLE, THEN YOU STUPIDLY JOIN A GANG OF CRIMINALS WITH CAPTAIN AMERICA FOR PRACTICALLY NO REASON, THEN, YOU GET PUT UNDER HOUSE ARREST FOR TWO YEARS, THEN, YOU GOT OUT ONLY TO GET TRAPPED IN THE QUANTUM REALM FOR GOD KNOWS HOW LONG, AND NOW YOUR DAUGHTER MIGHT BE DEAD. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
He stopped destroying the tree and took a moment to breath. He knew this wasn't his fault. He just hated himself. He loved Cassie more than anyone in the world. And yet he barely spent time with her. He was never there, like his father. Scott remembered when Cassie was born. When he told everyone that he would do anything for Cassie. And when she was dying, and no one could do anything about it. He had no choice. Also, his father was never there for him. He also stole. He never wanted to be his dad. He just wanted to be there for his daughter more than anything else. He wouldn't trade Cassie for the power of God himself.
After that, Scott looked at the wagon for a moment and said
Scott: oh screw the wagon
He kicked it, making it fall over and ran to the house as fast as he could
When he got there, he almost killed himself just by running up the stairs. He bang and rang the doorbell what felt 30 times.
He waited, and waited, and waited. Until he saw someone. She looked like a teenager that was about 15 or 16. Until she got closer to the door, she stopped herself and looked at Scott shocked and hopeful. Scott was confused since he had no idea who this girl was. But then, she began to get teary eyed. She opened the door, she had a familiar smile and a familiar look in her eyes. Scott realized and prayed it was who he thought it was
Scott: Cassie?
The girl dropped a tear and looked at him
Cassie: dad
Cassie threw herself into his arms. Scott hugged back thankfully. She was so different than the last time he saw her. Back then, she was still this cute little girl that was the the best thing ever created by mere mortals. Now, she's this.
Scott looked at Cassie again.
Scott: you're so big
She laughed and kept hugging him.
A few minutes later, Cassie and Scott were inside, Cassie was giving Scott a salad along with some coffee.
Scott: so what happened here?
Cassie: well, half of the universe faded
Scott: what
Cassie: yeah I know, there was this ailen named thanos that was trying to do this because of "natural resources" or something like that. They fought brutally with the avengers. But they lose.
Scott looked at Cassie in shock. Half of the whole universe faded away into nothing.
Scott: well as you can see I wasn't. I was trapped in the quantum realm for what felt like 5 hours
Cassie: well it's been 5 years.
Scott: of course it was
Cassie: what's wrong
Scott: oh can you really not see it? I was presumed dead for 5 years when really I was trapped in an alternate dimension when my life was becoming good again, and since your mother and other father haven't been coming down here with open arms, and since your mother doesn't have a job. I'm going to assume that she was one of the victims along with your other father
Cassie: well mom was
Scott: you know where I'm coming at, who even raised you
Cassie: pax is still alive, he did everything he could to cheer me up
Scott: Cassie, do you have any idea what it's like for me right now
Cassie: DO YOU FOR ME
Scott was about to yell back, but stopped himself
Cassie: DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH I WANTED YOU HERE. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT IT WAS LIKE FOR ME WHEN MOM KILLED HERSELF BECAUSE ALL OF HER FRIENDS AND FAMILY DIED. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH I WANTED YOU AT THE SCHOOL PLAYS THE TALENT SHOWS, THE GRADUTATIONS, THE AMOUNT OF FUN I DID HAVE WHEN YOU WERNT THERE. I WANTED YOU HERE SINCE DAY 1
Scott froze for a moment. His wife killed herself. But she would never do that. I mean yeah she hated the avengers in general but this?
Scott: I didn't. Cassie, I never told anyone this but the reason that i began stealing, was you
Cassie looked up to Scott.
Scott: you had no idea of this, but you were dying, we didn't have enough money to get you the treatment. So I stole, as soon as I had enough money I brought you to a hospital to save you. Which they did. But not so long after I was caught. I just didn't want you to die. I wanted you to live on, maybe be a better parent than I ever would.
Cassie walked up to Scott
Cassie: well it's okay, you can't go back.
Scott had a lightbulb go off in his head.
Scott: go back
Cassie: what
Scott: go back go back go back. Cassie you're a genius.
Cassie: what are you talking about
Scott: okay, you know what. We spent the day together and then I will mention my idea tomorrow
Cassie: okay
Scott: but first, i remembered packing getting something from the toy store 5 years ago that I was never able to get you. And it was in the wagon I left behind. Be right back
Cassie: okay
5 minutes Later
Scott rushed through the door and showed to Cassie what he got. A cute little bunny plush similar to her old one, but it looked like a normal plush bunny.
Cassie: oh my god, it looks so cute
Scott: yeah I know, got this for only 5.00 bucks. I think I'm being ripped off.
Cassie: well at least your back and that's all that matter to me
Scott: I miss you too, peanut
Scott and Cassie hugged again, and it took a while to let go.
