I was leaning against a wall, my arms folded across my chest. I don't know how long I had been waiting there, but finally he appeared. And he just walked on by me as if I wasn't even there.
"Your mind's made up?" I spoke up, making my presence known.
Now Roxas stopped. "Why did the Keyblade choose me?" he asked in reply. "I have to know."
I sprung away from the wall. "You can't turn on the Organization! You get on their bad side and they'll destroy you!"
He cocked his head to the side to face me just a little. "No one would miss me," he claimed. And he kept on walking.
"That's not true!" I denied. "I would."
Roxas didn't stop walking this time. Instead of running, though, I created a portal and reappeared right in front of him. Now he stopped looking almost…shocked.
"Maybe you didn't hear me," I started. "I said that I would miss you." I took a single step towards him.
"A-Axel, I—" He moved away from me.
"What Roxas?"
"I can't stay here," he denied, his eyes dropping to the ground.
I took another step closer to him. "Just stay with me."
His blue eyes looked back up at me and locked with my green eyes. His eyes looked as if they were watering. But before I could comment, he squeezed them shut and tilted his head down. Then he walked past me, but I grabbed him by the elbow.
"What do you want from me, Axel?"
"I don't want to lose you, Roxas," I admitted. "You're the only reason still being here is bearable."
"I can't stay here," he repeated.
"Then let me go with you."
He faced me again and looked shocked once more.
"Why?" he wondered.
I only shrugged, letting go of him. "Why not?"
"But you can't just—we can't—it's not like—" He sighed, exasperated and giving up on what he was trying to say before. "What's gotten into you all of a sudden?" he then asked me instead.
Now I sighed. "I just…I don't want to see you walk away from me."
"I-I don't understand," he said softly, his gaze turned to the ground once more.
I cupped his chin and lifted his head so he would look at me. "Then maybe I can help you understand."
And before he could say another word, I kissed him. And after a moment of hesitation, he kissed me back.
Roxas wrapped his arms around my neck and I wrapped my arms around his waist in return. He fingers tangled in my hair as he pushed deeper into the kiss. When we finally broke apart, it was only because we needed air.
"How can we do this?" Roxas spoke up after a few moments of soft panting. "We don't have hearts."
"I don't care about that," I replied. "All I care about is you."
He smiled and rested his forehead on my chest. "Come with me."
I smiled back at this. "Of course," I told him. "I'll go anywhere with you."
