When Hannah returns to DC, she goes to see how Booth is doing since she turned him down. Upon arrival she finds out just what's been going on between him & Brennan.
Stepping out of the elevator Hannah walked into the up-stairs lobby of the J. Edgar Hoover building. Heading straight to Booth's office she stopped a few feet away taking a deep breath before walking up to his office and knocking on the door. "Come in" Booth said, not really in the mood to deal with who-ever was on the other side of the door; with the exception of Bones of course.
He and bones had been taking turns in picking Christine up from day-care and keeping her occupied until they were finished at work. But today Christine had been with him all day because she'd been sick the night before and since Bones was busy helping Cam with something, she didn't have the time to keep Christine at the lab with her.
He and Bones were currently expecting their second child, Brennan was five months pregnant with a little boy who Christine kept calling Elmo.
Looking up from the paper work he was doing Booth saw Hannah standing in front of his desk. "Hannah! Hi, what're you doing here?" "I came to see you, Seely. How've you been?" Darting his eyes towards the small sleeping figure on the lounge then back to Hannah, Booth leaned back in his chair – arms folded and replied, "I'm good, great actually; I'm married to the woman of my dreams, we have a beautiful little girl together with a little boy due in about four months" "Oh, well then this changes things. Do I know her? – The woman you're married to?" Before Booth could reply Christine woke up and started coughing, getting up from his seat Booth went over to Christine and picked her up. Carrying her back to his desk, he sat down with her and rubbed her back as she coughed. Christine turning in her father's arms and looked at Hannah with tired eyes.
Hannah studied the child in front of her trying to figure out who she looked like. Then looking at her eyes she saw it, she knew who those eyes belonged too. They were identical to Temperance's, that must be the woman he married. "Did you marry Temperance?" "I did and you may have fooled me once before but at least I know that with Bones I won't ever make that mistake. Look I'm not sure why you are really here Hannah, but I love Bones and you need to accept that" – Not getting the chance to finish his sentence before his phone interrupted him. It was a text from Bones letting him know that she and Cam had finished early and she was on her way to the Hoover.
Not looking away from Christine for several more second Hannah was pulled out her trance by Booth clearing his throat. "I uh, I should probably get going. It was nice to see you again Seely and I hope that you and Temperance have a wonderful life together. See ya around" and with that Hannah turned and left Booth's office and headed towards the elevator. Reaching the elevator Hannah found herself staring Temperance Brennan in the face, for the first time in three years. Switching positions and not saying a word to one another, Hannah stood at the front of the elevator as everyone piled in and watched the scene before her.
Seeing Booth point Temperance out to his daughter then letting her go and run over to her mommy, whilst Temperance bent down to one knee and opened her arms scooping up the little girl as she ran into her arms and walking over to where Booth was standing not too far away. Shifting the little girl in her arms Temperance leant up to give her husband a light kiss.
Sighing, as the elevator doors closed Hannah thought about why she turned Booth down and why she'd come back. The memory of Booth and his family was still fresh in her mind, sighing and shaking her head Hannah strolled out of the elevator, and hailed a cab back to her hotel.
