Show a B.I.V. shot of people walking along a sidewalk on a regular sunny morning. Switch to a shot of the Death Note lying on the sidewalk. Zoom out as Light Yagami reaches down to pick the notebook up, a look of interest on his face. Cut to a scene of Light sitting alone in his room, the Death Note open on his desk.

Light Yagami: (reading from the notebook, curiously) 'Any human whose name is written in the Death Note shall die'. Bring into focus a small T.V. behind Light.

T.V. Announcer 1: The famed terrorist Ozuki Kosaji is currently inside the Day Care center, holding three young children hostage and demanding money. (A picture of Kosaji appears on the screen)

Light turns around slowly, looks at the T. V., and then picks up a pen. Zoom in on the notebook as Light writes Kosaji's name down. Chaotic noise comes from the T.V.

T.V. Announcer 1: (panicked) What luck! It seems that Kosaji has suddenly died of a heart attack—

Light: (looking bewildered and scared) What the…?

Cut to a new scene in Light's room. This time, the sun has gone down. Light is sitting on his bed with Ryuk in front of him.

Light: (nervously) W-what are you?

Ryuk: Me? I'm a Shinigami, and the rightful owner of that Death Note. I'll stick by your side as long as you have that.

Switch to a scene of Light standing on the balcony of his room, his arms outstretched, his hair blowing in the wind, smiling crazily. In his left hand, he holds the Death Note. Ryuk is behind him.

Light: I'll use this Death Note to kill everyone who threatens the peace of society! I'll be the god of a new world!

Cut to a scene of L, standing with his back to the camera, looking at the monitor of a T.V. Show the screen of the T.V., this time.

T.V. Announcer 2: …And the mass number of felon deaths by heart attacks has finally been determined as murder, not a coincidence. The police have dubbed the unknown murderer 'Kira'.

Switch to a new shot of L. This time, he is seated in his usual fashion, eating sugar cubes.

L: I'll catch Kira, Watari. And when I do, I'll put him to justice.

Shots of the faces of Misa, L, Light, Matsuda, Higuchi, and Naomi are seen in short bursts, just before the screen turns black and displays the title, 'Death Note, the Movie: Part I'.
