I walked. Stepping over a few of the thousands of dead bodies that were strewn across the whole perimeter of Hogwarts, I walked towards him. Breathing hard to keep my pounding heart calm, I turned his body over.
Yes! He was still breathing, but barely. Using the healing charms that Hermione had taught me during our hiding days, I healed his cuts and bruises, but his inner injuries were out of my control. I struggled between hugging him or just holding him close enough to carry to the Hospital Wing.
Choosing the latter, I gently scooped him up. Though I was smaller than him, he seemed lighter than me in weight. Head lolling against my chest, he seemed to be in deep pain. Trying my best not to cry, I bravely carried him all the way up to the infirmary. Over there, Madam Pomfrey was glad to see me and also him, and quickly took over to lay him down on an unused bed.
Hearing her muttering complex spells, I crossed my fingers and hoped that everything would turn out alright. After two grueling hours, she finally stepped back and took a breath of relief.
"How is he?" I heard myself ask in barely higher than a whisper.
She turned to me, eyes with a little hope. "It depends on his willpower. The bite had caused him to weaken his blood circulation by a lot, yet he still managed to last this long. I have already dispelled most of the poison. The rest is in his hands. For now, if he manages to last this night, he will definitely wake up eventually, otherwise."
I swallowed. Whether he would live was up to him? No, I would ensure that he would wake up. I always dreamt that after this war, I would confess my love and live a happy life with him. I sat by him, holding his hand.
I stared at his injured body. His handsome face was full of cuts and bruises. I suddenly thought of something. Is his…Dark Mark still there? I cautiously pulled up his left sleeve. Indeed it was still there, but it seemed to be fading with each passing moment. I looked upon his ragged face. There were so many small scars that one tended to overlook. Yet this was what made him so unattractive to look at from afar, but so tantalizing when stared at.
I kissed the hand that I was holding.
Please wake up Severus. I want you, no I need you. You are part of my life, my soul even.
Amazingly, it seemed as though he listened to my thoughts because at that point, his eyelids fluttered open and he drew in harsh, rugged breaths.
"Potter? The war…" His once peaceful face was now etched with worry lines and creases which clearly reflected his pain.
"Hush Severus, it is over. It is time for new beginnings." With that, I kissed him, making him stunned.
Embarrassed, I quickly apologized and stepped back.
"Don't go. I was simply surprised. I never knew you felt the same way too. Come here brat."
I returned to his arms and for once, warmth filled my heart and from then on, I knew that I would never be alone again.
A/N: Hello! This just came out one day... tell me what you think! Enjoy!
