~Prologue~
"Hey, you. Why are you crying?"
Light Yagami, age six, looked up through auburn locks meeting curious obsidian eyes. "I'm not crying!" he replied while frantically trying to wipe away his tear-streaked face.
"Forgive me if I am wrong, but you look like your crying to me." Said the unknown little boy.
Light continued to look at the little boy. He couldn't have been more than two years older than him. He had unruly raven hair and incredible black eyes. He was slightly hunched and he was speaking to Light through his red scarf. "Do you mind if I sit with you?" the raven head boy asked.
"Ah, sure." Light said quietly. The boy then proceeded to sit on the swing beside Light.
"Are you going to tell me why you were crying…?" He left the sentence opening hoping the crying male would fill in his name.
"Light. My name is Light."
"Oh. Well then, are you going to tell me why you are crying Light-kun?"
"It doesn't matter anymore. It was nothing. What's your name?"
"You may call me Ryuzaki."
"So Ryuzaki, where do you live? I don't think I've seen you before. Are you new or something?" Light asked curiously looking over to him.
"My brother and I just moved here, along with our grandfather, Watari. So it makes sense that you haven't met me yet." Ryuzaki answered smoothly.
"I guess so. What's your brother's name?" Light asked. It wasn't like him to be so obviously interested in someone.
"We call him BB but his real name is Beyond. He's nine."
"Okay so how old are you?" Light continued to pitch question at him.
"I am six. Although I will be seven in a few months."
"Then that means we're the same age?" Light asked a little shocked by the answer "You somehow act…more grown up then you are. Why is that?" Light said.
"You ask a lot of questions; why is that?" Ryuzaki respond with the same calm face that he seemed to always have on.
Light narrowed his eyes as he stayed silent for a while as he mused over the question. Why was he asking so many questions?
He knew close to nothing about this boy but was still talking to him freely and without a care. Light felt that Ryuzaki was a very bizarre character. The way he spoke and acted beyond his years was fascinating. His appearance was plain, yet he himself completely stood out. Ryuzaki had this air of secrecy and Light was itching to find out why. Light was now thinking back to all those times in school when they taught him "never talk to strangers!" And Ryuzaki was definitely a stranger. In every sense of the word.
And yet, the fact seemed to compel Light to talk to him more.
"So Ryuzaki...where are you from?"
