Coach Eric Taylor was not in good mood. It was lunch time and he had stopped by his wife's office to see if she wanted to grab a bite to eat, but she was already eating with Glen and some of the office staff. Great --off to the cafeteria. It had been a long weekend and now an even longer Monday morning.

Julie, his wonderful daughter, had spent Saturday hung-over and throwing up, and the rest of the weekend yelling and crying at him for kicking Tim Riggins out. To top it off, on the way into school this morning she had given him the silent treatment.

Tami, the one person he thought would be on his side, was not impressed with his actions on Friday night. Hell, he was even having second thoughts about the way he had handled things – but what was he supposed to do when he found Tim Riggins on top of his daughter?

In the cafeteria, Coach managed to cut the line of students up to the point where they were serving food, but he ended up behind two goofy boys who were too preoccupied with the lunchroom scene to notice he was behind them. He was successful in ignoring their mindless conversation, until one name caught his attention.

"Oh no, is that Julie Taylor talking to Riley?" the one boy said with at smirk and a laugh.

"Yeah, she is hot! Why is he acting like such a freak?" said the other.

Coach followed their line of sight until he saw his daughter trying to talk to a kind of scrawny kid. The kid looked petrified – squirming in his seat and looking over his shoulders.

"Didn't you hear? My boy Riley was about to tap her drunk ass on Friday night until Tim Riggins stepped in. Riggs told Riley if he ever talked to her again, he'd end him."

Shocked by this new information, Coach watched the scene unfold. Julie was standing with her tray trying to have a conversation with this Riley kid when all of the sudden his eyes got big, he muttered something to Julie and ran off. Julie stood there for a beat, shrugged her shoulders and went on to sit with Lois. Then Coach saw what (or who) sent the kid running -- Tim Riggins was standing across the cafeteria also watching but with a menacing look on his face.

The boys in lunch line in thought this was entertaining and started laughing and giving high fives. "Dude, I've never seen Riley run so fast!"

Eric decided to let his presence be known by clearing his throat. "Boys, can we move it along here?"

The boys turned around with a start. Their expressions contrite when they realized who was behind them.

"Sorry Coach," they muttered as they scurried away.

Coach Taylor paid for his food and headed back to his office. As he walked out of the cafeteria he caught Tim Riggins eye and gave a nod of acknowledgement. Julie saw the small gesture and gave him a quick smile.

Damn, those second thoughts.
