Whaleverse Addition: "Firefly"

Summary: The team watches a television show called "Firefly" together and argue about the characters, and who relates to whom.

Author's Notes: After watching back-to-back episodes of Firefly, and then reading some SGA fanfiction, I thought it might be amusing to post something like this…by the way: Whaleverse is all Friendshipper and Naye's. I also do not own Stargate Atlantis or Firefly.

Timeline: Set after "Tao of Whales".

"Really, I think John is Mal, Teyla is River, Ronon is Jayne, Carson is Kaylee, and I'm Simon." Rodney said smugly. "It matches the rankings out of the both of us."

"Except for the fact, laddie, that I'm not a girl," Carson growled.

"And I am not 'crazy'," Teyla said tightly, looking at him in annoyance. "At most, I am Inara," She added.

"And what does that make Zelenka and Weir, anyhow?" John asked, raising an eyebrow. "You left both of them out."

"Zelenka is Sheppard Book and Weir…" Now Rodney hesitated. "Weir is…"

"Is Weir," Elizabeth said, coming into their tiny 'theatre' where the group was sitting and watching the television series 'Firefly'. "What are you doing?"

"We're debating about whose what character in Firefly," John explained, as he stretched out beside Rodney. "We've got some of them right, I think, but we're hammering out the details."

"Ah," Elizabeth said, nodding in understanding as she sat beside Teyla and Carson. "So you are Malcolm Reynolds?" She asked John in amusement.

"That's what everyone here thinks," He said with a shrug. "Personally, I don't mind that at all." He added with a grin.

"Well…" Elizabeth considered. "How about this? You are Captain Reynolds, Ronon is Jayne, Teyla is Inara, Carson is Simon, Zelenka is Sheppard Book, and Rodney is…well, the only one left, really, is River." She said with a smile.

"Hey, I'm not a girl either!" Rodney protested, and scowled. "I'm also not crazy!"

"I don't know-both of you two are very smart, and you did read minds at one point," John pointed out with a smirk. He was, of course, relating to the fact that Rodney had become almost entirely fae not too long ago.

"I thought we weren't going to mention that again-reading some of your minds was disgusting!" Rodney complained.

"Like the same non-verbal agreement that Lt. Cadmen kissed you by the means of using my body?" Carson teased, and Rodney blanched.

"Right, well, let's take a vote-all in favor of Rodney being River, raise your hand!" John said cheerfully. Everyone, including Ronon, raised their hands.

"Oh, come on!" Rodney protested. "I'd rather be Zoe!" He added, scowling.

"Nope-Teyla gets that honor."

"I thought she was Inara," Rodney said, frowning at her. Teyla smiled.

"I am Inara, while Elizabeth is Zoe. She is the Captain's first mate, is that not right?" She asked, and everyone nodded.

"Makes perfect sense," John said with a grin. "Though if we went by rank, Elizabeth would be Mal, and I would be Zoe-but that's just too messed up for words."

"And how is it that you always have to be the best looking guy in the movie?" Rodney complained.

"Because," John said with a grin. "I'm just that kind of guy," He gave a short pause. "More awesome than all of you put together." He finished and ducked as popcorn was thrown at him not just from Rodney but from the others as well, and it was invested as a very short popcorn fight. On the television screen River could be seen smiling into the camera while seemingly watching something the others were not aware of.

But it could be that she could see them through the screen as she stared into the camera, enjoying the sight of a group of people who loved one another and who was very much at home in Atlantis.
