Brittany and Santana woke up next to each other on a cool, dark morning. It had been this way for as long as they could remember. Santana pulled Brittany close "Good morning, baby." she whispered. Brittany turned over to face her lover and grinned as she leaned in for a kiss.
Mornings had been blissful ever since they started living together, so content were they just to be in each other's embrace. They had a small place, nothing fancy, but it was theirs and that was all that mattered. They lay for a while, holding each other, taking advantage of their empty schedules.
"Maybe we should get up..." Brittany said with a lazy smile.
Santana held her closer and moaned in mock protest. Brittany giggled and for a second she didn't notice the room tremble.
The floor beneath them rumbled and shook as they held each other tight. The light became instantly bright, the air warmer and suddenly they were lifted high into the air.
"What's happening?!" Brittany cried in fear. Santana could only hold her as they were slammed onto a large flat expanse of land; what was happening to them?
They lay on the strange, grey surface, still wrapped up in each other, safe as long as they didn't let go. Brittany was panic stricken, staring at her soul mate for reassurance. Santana was just shaking off the shock of what was happening when she saw the knife.
Santana had known this day would come, that they would someday become crudités. She looked at Brittany, her orange skin glowing in the soft light. She was truly grateful to have lived her short life with the most beautiful carrot in the bunch, the carrot who loved her, unconditionally, the carrot who made her complete. The knife gleamed, ready to bear down and cut them into appetisers. Santana would not let Brittany see her fate; with her last breath, Santana held Brittany's gaze and calmly whispered "I love you Brittany.".
In a flash of steel their love was immortalised, their souls living on forever in the big refrigerator in the sky.
