Chapter 1 Mission Briefing

The morning sun rose, filling Hinata's room with light. She could smell the familiar scent of the lavender near her window. It's been many years since that day, she thought, tying her ninja headband around her neck. She zipped up her coat, and left her small room. As she walked down the hallways, she heard Kiba's voice from afar.

"Hey, Hinata!" he said. As usual, his small dog was in his coat.

"Hello, Kiba." She replied. She looked around. "Where's Shino?"

"Shino already left. Yuhi-sensei is waiting," he said, walking past her.

Kiba Inuzuka, Hinata Hyuga, and Shino Aburame…Team 8 of Kurenai Yuhi. Together they had faced many missions, though Hinata had failed a few. Fortunately, after the Chunin Exams and her battle with Neji Hyuga, she has not failed a mission yet. Before her life-changing battle, she was shy and not confident. Always hiding behind the bush, but Naruto Uzumaki, the boy she looks up to and loves, gave her courage and confidence.

"Alright," Yuhi-sensei said. "We have a new mission. It may take a few weeks. If you all are up to it, speak now or forever be silent." Her red eyes scanned the three teenagers.

"I am up for anything," Shino replied, adjusting his sunglasses.

"Me too!" Kiba said.

Everyone looked at Hinata. "Okay."

"That settles it," Yuhi-sensei replied. "Our mission is rank C, so it's very dangerous."

They all nodded, ready to face the dangers ahead of them.

"We are to travel to the House of Flying Daggers, in the Land of Grass," she began. "We are to protect the Head of the House and the Heir until further notice."

"What's the House of Flying Daggers? And who's after them?" Kiba asked, crossing his arms.

"It's a powerful family, filled with masters of Taijutsu. Each descendant is skilled in weapon throwing, similar to Ten Ten's skills. Ops aren't sure who's after them, but one things for sure...they are assassins." She answered, handing them their briefing scrolls. "About two months ago, the Head Master was killed while he was taking his daily walk. Some officials in the House are accusing the Hyuga Family for the Head Master's assassination."

Shino and Kiba gazed at Hinata.

"The Main Branch of the Hyuga Family and the House of Flying Daggers are equal rivals," Hinata began, pushing her forefingers together. "The reason for this rivalry is as unknown as the family feud between the Main branch and the Side branch. Like us with our Byakugan, they are gifted with a Kekkai Genkai…the Mastery of Wind."

"They use this ability to manipulate the course of the kunais," Yuhi-sensei continued. "With this particular Kekkai Genkai, they can target any chakra point. Thus, the similarity between the House and the Hyuga Family."

"Hiashi, head of my family, said that they are mere doppelgangers, having know originality and imitating the Hyuga's most blessed trait. But, I believe they can be a powerful ally," Hinata said.

"Wow! Who's the Heir?" Kiba asked, scanning the scroll.

"I have not met the Heir in person," Hinata began. "But I hear he is very powerful in Taijutsu."

"We must show our respect in front of the Head, so don't fool around!" Yuhi-sensei said. "Now, pack up your necessities and meet me at the entrance at 12:00 p.m. Dismiss!"

The squad returned to their rooms, clenching their scrolls.

As Hinata was walking back, she remembered the words of her father. If anyone encounters them, you are chosen to be as the representative of the Hyuga family. Show the strength and skill of this Family.

Hinata knew this mission would be the hardest she ever received.
