Set after the movie Yu-Gi-Oh: Bonds Beyond Time, and Cardfight Vanguard episode 76.
Domino City, a place bustling with multiple card shops and children pulling their parents into them nearby. Domino City, a place where history is born, a history never written in any books.
"Is it really time to say goodbye?"
A history so great, it deserved to be written in books for children to read, and adults to remember. A history so vital, it changed the world. But it was protected by a pact, a barrier, a secret and a promise to never speak of it again.
"No, I refuse to believe that!"
It started as any normal day, it was one of those typical card pumping events hosted by Maximillion Pegasus, one of the wealthiest and best duelists during his time. Never did it occur to Yugi Moto, King of Games, that a future-influencing battle would occur this day. No- more like in this time.
It was history unwritten - three duelists joining forces to defeat a time traveler named Paradox, who's ambition is to erase Duel Monsters from the world. He even claims that they will be the end of the universe. Claims he has seen it. Has seen the destruction caused by it.
But Yusei Fudo thought otherwise.
Yusei, affectionately dubbed as Satelite's Shooting Star, made effort to return to the past in other to stop the madman. His time held the era of turbo duels, a motorcyle enhanced form of dueling. Which he is proud to say, good at.
On the way in his journey to before, he bumped into Jaden Yuki, a great duelist who excels in fusing monsters. Jaden was very thankful - the madman appeared out of nowhere and would have crushed him if Yusei hadn't ridden in time. The boy was traveling in Venice, Italy, and why he was there made Yusei more confused when he decided to ask, so he didn't push the topic any further. They stopped to chat, exchanged information, and had Jaden tag along the ride. Realizing that the traveler was no longer present, both of them decided to join forces, catch the guy, and go further into the past.
The past is where they met Yugi Moto, within the catastrophy that used to be Domino City with all the smoke and debris - one almost crushing the duelist to his death. Yusei still didn't know how it happened but the Crimson Dragon, a flaming majestic, legendary beast, swooped Yugi - just before he gets hit - and took the three of them thirty minutes back in time to prevent the said destruction. To prevent it from happening.
Jaden sighed, reminiscing sure was fun.
"I'm afraid it's time to say goodbye."
As the day was coming to its end, with the city in safe reign and the sun was setting, the three of them stood on the top of an old, concrete building rooftop and laughed at the events the previously occurred. The rays added depth and effect into the cooling air, and the shadows shielded them from the naked eye below.
"Jaden's right..." whispered Yami, a spirit who lives inside of an ancient artifact called the Millennium Puzzle. The said artifact, hanging on a chain around Yugi's neck, gave a soft, vibrant glow, announcing its presence. "And after all, as long the world of Duel Monsters need us, we will definitely see each other again."
The cool winds shifting through the air blew past them in approval. Jaden looked as if he close to crying.
"Well I'm off. My friends might be worried sick about me," humorlessly chuckled Yusei, and revved the engine of his motorcycle. His voice was hallow and soft - he was certainly going to miss this.
"Mind if I hitch a ride to my time?" Jaden asked innocently. Yusei nodded. He tossed his red helmet to the brunet, who caught it with little effort.
"Goodbye."
Yusei called the Crimson Dragon for its aid to open the many warps of time passages, ones that it had opened to get where he is now. It's howling voice cord zapped the air, unheard to those who did not have the ability to see it.
But calling didn't mean it appeared.
And it never said anything about creating a large hole in the sky unceremoniously attempting to suck them in.
The runner looked at it in panic, this has never happened before! Strong winds pushed and pulled, and left over debris swirled in anger with the current. With yelp, and a tap, Jaden hung to a railing and clutched his bag for dear life, afraid to lose the cat and the spirit of his late professor.
"Wha- what's going on?!" Yami panicked. Why were the people below oblivious to this? Could they not see the gaping hole in the sky?!
"Meow?"
"Pharaoh, get back IN THERE!"
But he, the Crimson Dragon, really did appear this time, its wail proudly booming and echoing through the peaceful remains of Domino, its fire-red scales turning into a bright glow of blue. It was trying to figure out what was going on itself, Yusei deduced.
"C-Crimson Dragon?" But he may be wrong. He didn't understand. The creature never reacted like it did before.
The beast gave a final, powerful howl and swept the three off their feet using its magnanimous tail. Jaden let out a very manly yelp before he let go of the railing, and went through the warp first. Yami held on longer than the Slifer did, but eventually couldn't hold on any longer and let go.
"No!"
And with that, Yusei followed suit.
The world was bright and cheerful, and vibrant, and blue. Fairies were happily chanting to folk tunes and mermaids, with their glistening scales, were out performing their yore local dances. One strike, two strikes - knights were sparring in pride, not losing nor winning, for results did not matter in fights that served nothing but pass time. Nearby churches played their holy organs and sang to worldly hymns that made the nearby dragons fall into a gentle sleep. Flowers bloomed and the elves tended to them, animals shared fruits and "thieves" - or so the world thought they were - gave alms to the little mice that roamed the clearing. The world, no matter how different they all were, lived in harmony and peace. They didn't use to - but that what mistakes are for. For beings to learn. And they have learned, and they have achieved peace.
He hears this voice, but could not make up coherent words. His ears filled themselves with static. He closes his eyes, he opens them, and it is not the same - the sky, the sky that used to be so blue, was now covered a dark shade of black. Lightning angrily flashed and the greenery that was the world slowly disintegrated. he could no longer find the beautiful Siren that sang sea songs nor the child fortune teller who told the most accurate of futures. But the longer that he stood there, the more he understood, the more he heard-
Picture it. We're astral bodies that have appeared on Cray, a planet very much like Earth.
In the beginning, when He created the universe, the earth was formless and desolate. The raging ocean that covered everything was engulfed in total darkness. Then Ra said Let there be light, and so it did. And fuck did Yami hate it. It pierced his eyes and felt hot on his skin. His position was already comfortable as it is - his limbs were all wobbly and he didn't really feel like waking up. Come on Isis, just five more minutes-
"Who the hell are you calling Isis?"
Yami woke up with a scream.
Re-read this and realized I had terrible, terrible grammar, so I decided to fix it! I'm more satisfied with it now (not really). Unfortunately, I'm still not a very detailed writer, up to this day.
It looks like a prologue to me. Eh, whatever.
