It was a stormy night as a young man sat at his desk, typing feverishly at his laptop, his eyes a bit foggy from lack of sleep. He wasn't even looking at the screen anymore, only envisioning the reason he was writing this in the first place. "Dammit! Why can't I get this right?" He rubbed his temples, groaning a bit as a small headache throbbed its way into his brain. He had been staring at the screen too long, and it was hurting is eyes. He yawned, stretching his arms and back. He had to get this perfect if he wanted to impress her. Nothing would stand in the way of telling her how he felt about her…not this time. "She probably doesn't even feel the same way for me…" he muttered. He sighed, trying to get back to his creation. He had to keep writing. If he stopped, he may lose his ideas…

"Will you read me a story?"

Shining Armor jumped out of his chair, plucked from his writing by his younger sister's voice. He turned to see her standing there in her pajamas, Smarty Pants clutched in her arm. She rubbed her eyes sleepily. "I heard you talking to yourself. Are you ok, Big Brother?"

Shining Armor smiled sadly. The lack of sleep had gone to his head. He wasn't ok, but he wasn't gonna worry Twilight. He walked over, picking her up. "Yeah, kiddo, I'm fine. I'm just trying my hand at writing a novel, that's all. It's going good so far. Wanna hear it?"

Twilight nodded softly, yawning. He carried her over to his bed, letting her get comfy. He grabbed his laptop, lying down next to her. He had never noticed before, but his bed was really comfy…He cleared his throat and began to read.

'On a cold winter's morning, the fair maiden awoke within her chambers, the morning sun breaking through the window as it reflected off of the fresh-fallen snow. She rose, moving quietly across the wooden planks of her floor. She approached the balcony window, drawing it open. A rush of cool air danced over her skin, tickling the hairs on her neck and arms. A heavy sigh escaped her lips, desperately wishing that her prince would one day show his face, so that she may love and cherish him. But alas, she was never to be happy. Not with her mother, The Queen, forbidding any man to even catch a glimpse of her…Her mother was afraid that the power the Princess held, the powers of the kingdom, would vanish if the Princess devoted herself to a man. But the Queen was wrong. The Princess' powers would grow and flourish, because she thrived off of love, the love of a pure and noble heart…'

"And that's all I got…what do you think, Twily? Twily…?" He looked down to see his sister fast asleep in the crook of his arm. He smiled, saving the file and shutting down the laptop. He closed his eyes, letting the aches and fatigue of the day melt away…
