She couldn't stop thinking about that night. The blackout constantly invaded her mind. The moments before the lights had come back on had been some of the best in her life. So why had she chosen to stop? Was it because she was Andy McNally? The rookie that was going places? Was it Luke? Or was it Sam? Did he even still think about it or was it really "what it was?" either way she didn't want to think about it anymore. She had a shift to get ready for.
i really hate to let this moment go
touching your skin and your hair falling slow
when a goodbye kiss, feels like this
Sams jog did nothing to clear his head that morning. He should have known it wouldn't. Nothing could clear Andy from his brain. Every time he closed his eyes he could see her face as the lights came back on the night of the blackout. The look in them haunted him. As he went into his house and hit the shower thoughts of her flooded his mind even worse. Was she oblivious? Did he honestly believe it really "was what it was?"
don't you wanna stay here a little while
don't you wanna hold each other tight
don't you wanna fall asleep with me tonight
Another shift was over. She had did it. Another day with Sam. Sitting in the car listening to his laugh, looking at his smile. It was torture. No, scratch that, sitting across from Luke in the restaurant they were in was torture. She kept looking at him, expecting to feel the same things that she felt for Sam. The same depth, the same love, but it just wasn't there. As she opened her mouth and grasped for words the world seemed to stop.
don't you wanna stay here a little while
we can make forever feel this way
don't you wanna stay
He lay in bed alone. Raindrops pounding on the roof. The day had passed far too fast. All he wanted to do was to get off the end of shift and take her home. But Luke got her after shifts end. It was driving him insane. And the sad thing is that Andy might not ever know just how much she meant to him. As he got out of bed and pulled on some sweats he knew where he had to go
lets take it slow i don't want to move to fast
i don't wanna just make love, i wanna make love last
when your up this high, it's a sad goodbye
She kept truding through the rain. Soaked to the bone she didn't really care anymore about the rain drops that were assaulting her head. Luke had offered to call her a cab, told her that he could even drop her off. But she didn't want that. Even though he tried to be a gentleman about everything she could tell her confession had broken his heart. When he had asked her why she hadn't told him before she didn't know the answer. All she knew is that she couldn't let these feelings grade on her for another minute. She climbed the steps to her apartment knowing that tomorrow was a brand new day. And for once she could say what she needed to.
oh yeah!
oh it feels so perfect baby..
don't you wanna stay here a little while..
He stood there. She hadn't come to the door. Maybe she didn't want to talk. Maybe she was out with Luke still. Either way, him trudging three blocks in the rain hadn't accomplished much. Especially at one am. Discouraged he turned to leave.
don't you wanna stay here a little while
don't you wanna hold each other tight
don't you wanna fall asleep with me tonight
She caught his eyes. Startled. What in the world was he doing here, soaking wet, just like her. Was something wrong? All it took was a look. Wet clothes and all she was in his arms, the keys were in the lock, they were inside and this time not a single light went out.
Don't you wanna stay..
yeah yeah yeahhh
yeah yeah yeahhh
