The Test
Your eyes
Black as night
They hold me, captivated,
Paralyze me.
I cannot move
I am under your spell.
I cannot blink
For fear of missing the details of your eyes:
Long lashes frame the dark orbs within.
Nothing can pass you
Unwatched.
Your hair
Dark like your gaze
Falls elegantly into your pale face.
It shines in the moonlight.
I want to touch it
But I cannot move.
Your fingers
Calloused from years of fights
They could brush my skin softly
Or kill me skillfully.
Your face betrays nothing.
You stare me down
I can feel your power.
You are dangerous,
But I can't help admire your skill.
What are you thinking
In your intelligent mind?
Am I worth your attention?
Do I deserve to be praised
By one as great as you?
You blink.
The spell is broken.
You brush past me.
You walk away.
I am alone.
I stand in the rain
And I realize:
I have failed the test.
