"Come with me" She had said.

To the ends of the Earth.

"What have you got to lose?"

Everything.

She was smiling now and Yoko knew that there was no denying her. If there was a reply Sei didn't hear it; she was already leading her by the hand away from the busy intersection towards where her little yellow Volkswagen was waiting for them.

Sei's driving was precarious, it was true, and how they managed to get to the gates of the amusement park in one piece Yoko did not know. She wasn't even sure why she was really there, but Sei was intent on showing her the world's best amusement park; quaint, charming, and rustic as she had put it, and Yoko was pleased that it was exactly everything that Sei had lead her to believe.

--

What she could not rationalize to herself however, was how she found herself going up the rickety roller coaster, people becoming mere ants: the wispy clouds seemed closer than ever. Finally the rattle of the chains lifting them higher stopped and they were in free fall. Yoko felt her heart jump to her throat, eyes squished shut and hands clamping around the bars. She was not meant to be hurled through the air with her hair whipping behind her, blood drained from her face. Then out of nowhere a warm hand clasped hers and Yoko thought that maybe her stomach dropping three inches was worth it. She opened her eyes enough to see Sei give her a wink. When the ride finally ends, her legs are shaky as they walk down the platform, and Sei is laughing.

"Let's do that again!"

"How about we get some lunch instead."

--

The amusement park comes alight, just as the last rays of the sun set; a thousand bulbs all flashing up into the dark night sky. She finds them at the top of the Ferris wheel and again Sei grabs her hand. A blissful smile just barley crossed her lips as the first of the fireworks started to go off, and heaven seemed closer than ever as Sei imperceptibly inched a little closer, squeezing her hand around Yoko's.

They sit in silence, gently holding the others hand. Each is in their own reverie and neither thinks to disturb the other. It's just as the light show ends; Yoko steps off the ride feeling warm despite the crisp air.

--

The car comes to a screeching halt, and Yoko suddenly doesn't want the day to end. They're outside her apartment now, and she knows that the fantasy must end. She doesn't know exactly where to begin so she clears her throat hoping that the words will come.
"I," She closes her eyes and tries to get her heart to stop hammering against her ribs.

"Thank you for today. It was pleasant."

She leans over the armrest and kisses Sei lightly on the cheek, exiting quickly so Sei can't see the blush that's started to paint her face.

--

As Sei drives off, it's all she can do not to put her hand to her warm cheek.
