Title: Acceptance

Rating: G

Summary: Chase thinks about his dad, med school, and seminary school

Author's Notes: I thought of this during English when we had to write a story with the first line as a song lyric. Please R&R

"You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you find you get what you need"
The stereo blasted and he thought about how relevant these words were. He knew that he certainly wasn't getting what he wanted. Maybe seminary school wasn't the only good choice. It hurt though-hurt that his father wouldn't accept his ambitions to be a priest, hurt that his father had abandoned him so many years before, only to step back in now and destroy him again. He looked down at the desk fingering the acceptance letter. Slowly, he opened a drawer and shuffled through some papers. He clutched an old, worn scrap with a name and a telephone number. He dialed and an answering machine clicked on

"Hi, dad. It's me. I just wanted you to know I got another acceptance letter. Med school…at Hopkins. I think I'm gonna go there. Ok. Bye."

Maybe bring a doctor wasn't exactly what he wanted, but maybe, just maybe, it was exactly what he needed. Acceptance.
