The First Meeting

Little Marceline giggled as Simon placed her down in fron of the fire. "Stay here," he urged. "I'll be right back."

Marcy's smile turned into s frown and her voice was urgent. "Simon," she looked him in they eyes. "Don't put it on."

"I won't." Simon replied. "I promise... Now wait here!" He dashed off, rushing to get some supplies.

Marceline sat alone in front of the fire. She hummed happily to herself until she didn't hear his footsteps anymore. She felt an odd chill run through her and began to feel scared. She pulled a blanket around herself and tried to be as quiet as possible. Staring into the fire, Marcy noticed that the flames were moving in a strange pattern. They seemed to have more life to them, and she watched curiously as the fire danced. Suddenly a face popped out and she let out a small shreik.

"Shh!" A voice urged. She looked in front of her to see that a young boy made of fire had appeared within the flames.

"Who are you?" She asked.

"Meow." He said. He then realized she couldn't speak cat, and whispered. "Quiet. They're here. I protect you."

"What...?" Marcy whispered back. She noticed his english wasn't very good, and he had some sort of accent.

"Shhhh... don't speak."

Marcy heard a low groan coming from behind the car she was sitting in front of. Her body instantly filled with fear and she let out a small gasp. She pulled the blanket around herself tighter and pressed her body against the vehicle. The boy of flame put on a determined face and gave her a nod. "Stay still. I protect you."

Marcy heard the groaning increase and watched in amazement as the boy leapt up out of the fire, lunging over the car and pouncing on something. The heard the thud as he and whatever it was hit the ground, and the whoosh of his hands as he whipped flames around to beat the monster. She peered beneath the car and stared at him in awe. He was fighting one of the goo monsters like she and Simon had seen before. He had the power of fire-he was MADE of fire, and she watched as his fist made contact with the thing's head, and he burned it, until eventually it stopped moving. She saw his feet leave the ground as he hopped back over the car and appeared in front of her.

"That was awesome!" She exclaimed, grinning at him. He smiled.

"You need to be... careful. Those things are every..where." He said, struggling to pronounce some of the words.

She hopped to her feet. "You're so cool! Want to be my friend?"

"..." He blinked, hesitating. "Yes."

"Yay!"
