Carnivale

Or

The Symphony of Chaos

Midnight falls on Gotham City,

Known for knife and smoking gun

As in shadow stands the figure

Of myself, the only one

Who dares to watch the city burning –

But why should I have all the fun?

-

A playing card is in one hand,

A symbol of what I have done

The other grips my precious knife

That blazes like an icy sun

My smile begins to slowly widen –

But why should I have all the fun?

-

I stand in silence, thinking, watching

As the frightened creatures run

From the symphony of chaos

(Order; reason there is none)

The spectacle that I've created –

But why should I have all the fun?

-

I am the nightmare of this city,

The freak they all eagerly shun

The thing that they don't realize

Is that the monster's already won!

I rule this city – without rules –

But why should I have all the fun?

-

The city cries; a black bat flies;

The war for Gotham's soul's begun

I silently wait, anticipate,

And watch the city come undone –

Just I, the laughing entertainer –

But why should I have all the fun?
