Sam heard the commotion, but he couldn't see his brother through the thick line of trees between them. Training told him to keep quiet, not give his position away. Instinct told training to go to hell.

"Dean?"

Hearing a pained grunt and more crashing, he bolted toward the sounds. Branches tore at him, roots nearly tripped him up, but he finally broke clear. Jumping over the body of the dead shapeshifter, he dropped to his knees and slid to a stop beside his brother. Dean was sitting with his back against a tree.

"Dean?"

"What kept ya?" he wheezed, smirking.
