"Do you truly believe that, Lalna? Really truly?"
Tears ran down Lalna's cheeks. He had tried to stay to himself but it just made him feel worse and worse. "Yes...I truly feel like I can't be what you need."
"Why would you ever think that?"
"Because," He tried to wipe the tears from his eyes. "I'm just a human. You should go back to your people and find someone who's worth your time."
"Stop it," Xephos said, "That has never mattered to me."
"But look at me... Compared to you, I'm so average." Lalna argued, still trying to rid himself of his tears. "You deserve more than this. You don't owe me anymore."
"Owe you?" Xephos asked, puzzled.
"Because I saved you... That's why you are still here, right?"
"Oh..." He suddenly felt the phantom pain of the injuries he received that day. He had fallen from the sky and the scientist had broken his way in just to pull him out. He did owe him for that but it had nothing to do with this. "Don't get stuff mixed up. If I was sticking around to pay you back for saving my life, I would have done so and left a long time ago."
"Then everything is settled. Go home."
Xephos winced, seeing Lalna in such a state of distress made him upset but also frustrated at the same time. He wanted to scream but instead of screaming, he laid his hands on the mans shoulders. "No, it is not settled. Listen to me. I stayed here with you because I wanted to be with you. There's no obligation between us."
Lalna was surprised by the sudden action but was still unconvinced as he refused to meet his eyes. "I... I can't... I can't be worth your time...Really. Just go."
Xephos pulled him into his embrace and held him gently. "I won't go. Why would I ever want to? You're the most amazing person I've ever met."
"You can't be serious.."
"Of course i'm serious! Why would I lie to you? I've never seen someone so beautiful either."
"Please..."
"You're beautiful, Lalna! Everything about you!" Xephos assured him, "I've watched you all this time and I've fallen deeply in love with you. I wouldn't lie. I wouldn't say this unless I truly meant it. I swear!"
Lalna was surprised to see the man tearing up a bit. Had he said something wrong? "What's the matter?"
"It's nothing." Xephos wiped his tears, giving the scientist some room. "I'm just getting emotional because I love you so much and yet, you wanted me to leave."
Feeling like an ass now, Lalna apologized. "I'm sorry... I didn't know. I shouldn't have said that. I was just so frustrated. What can I do to make it up to you?"
Sniffing, Xephos smiled a bit. "You don't have to do anything. Just promise you'll smile from now on. If you ever feel like you aren't good enough then I'll be right here to tell you why you're wrong."
A/N: From another prompt: "Lalna genuinely doesn't believe he is beautiful or good enough for Xephos and one night, he snaps and yells everything at Xephos. The Spaceman then takes his time to show Lalna everything he adores about him."
