AMEN OMEN
A BBS EVIL LITTLE SISTER FIC
WRITTEN BY AKUMU BIRTHDAY
I DO NOT OWN DEATH NOTE
Light spent five days and four nights without using the Death Note.
Why?
Because he wanted to just be Light for a while.
Not Kira, who was L's enemy. Light, who was Ryuzaki's friend.
Why?
Because he just got Rem to kill L... no, it was Ryuzaki.
He didn't think it was L he killed. It was not L who was standing in the rain on the roof top, or L who went to Watari about the bells. That was Ryuzaki.
For the first time in as long as he could remember, he felt guilt. Ryuzaki was his only proper friend.
Sure, Light had many, but none were real friends. Only Ryuzaki.
And during the time he was alone, away from Misa, the task force, Ryuk, he began to miss Ryuzaki. Not just Ryuzaki, but L as well.
He was never alone for months. And he hadn't been bored during the time he had forgotten the Death Note. He laughed with L, and with Ryuzaki; he smiled real smiles, and in turn got his friend to show real ones. Ones that were kept for a small, secluded few.
The cake fights that no one but them two knew about. The few nights L slept and Light got to see that face that was usually so still showing such a calm expression. And the onetime Ryuzaki had a nightmare.
Light remembered it all.
The Kira side of him shouted and growled at him for feeling so sympathetic about their only obstacle. But he pushed that away for a while, and locked it in a box, in the darkest corner of his mind.
Light stood on the roof top of the old building, the one he lived in for months, staring off into the clouds.
He missed that face that analysed him every waking second. He missed that nose that always looked like it was pointing up in a snobby way, like he thought he was better than everyone around him. He missed those lips that were always covered in sugar, that were almost always still. He missed the tongue that always had genius sentences roll off of it, and was equally coated with sugar as his lips. He missed the feathery, knotted locks of raven hair that would tickle his nose when they were both sleeping. And he missed those eyes, the eyes that would look into his psyche whenever he looked right into them.
The secrets they shared, the stories they told, the songs they heard.
Light remembered one. One that now fit them. Amen Omen. A sad song that made him cry so very often, whenever he heard it now.
The flash backs of when they were together; be it fighting or working or just having fun.
As Light picked up the Death Note for the first time in a while, he listened to Amen Omen. Before he wrote anything, he traced over the letters of his friend, and his rival's name.
L Lawliet
"I'm so sorry L... L Lawliet," Light whispered, tear drops falling on the pages, leaving blots of salty water on the paper.
Amen, omen, will I see your face again? Amen, omen, can I find a place within to live my life without you?
Well, that's Amen Omen. It made me cry. I listened to Amen Omen by Ben Harper as I wrote this and it fit way to well. I could actually imagine Light singing it as I wrote this through blurry vision. I do not in any way own the song or Death Note. But I do own the fic, you know! Listen to the song and re-read this, I recommend it. It's good, really. Oh, and reviews, please!
