Prologue
The dragon and Rider flies into the morning, in perfect sync, perfect harmony, and these two grew up together, from childhood. The dragon has cared for his Rider, raised his Rider, and loves his Rider, his Rider is still a teen, but she is very mature. She has had to be. She was kidnapped from her family at the delicate age of 5, her death was faked, her family distraught. Now she is 14, her parents dead, her brother gone. The kidnapper was her biological father that she never knew of, he is cruel and a rider too, she is ashamed to admit it but her biological father's name is King Galbatorix, cruel ruler of Alagaesia. He has done many cruel things to her personally as well, most of which she will not share. Up until she was 5 she lived with her mother, half-brother, and her mother's husband, brother's father. She used to think her name was Gabriella Mozandaughter, and she used to be ashamed of such, she has more reason to be ashamed now as Gabriella Galbatorixdaughter.
The reason of her actual heritage is horrible, shows the true evil of her biological father. While his faithful servant Morzan was away, Galbatorix took his wife, Selena, and raped her, this impregnated her with Gabriella. After Gabriella learned her namesake she bore it sadly, same with her heritage.
After her father kidnapped her, she got curious and explored the three dragon eggs he held. The eggs were embellished colored each unique, one red, one blue, and the last one, green. The Green egg hatched for 5-year old Gabriella, and her father watched with wide eyes.
After the two bonded Galbatorix immediately had the Gabriella repeat after him in the ancient language an oath that bonds them both to Galbatorix's commands. They had to now be loyal to him and do everything he told them to.
He trained Gabriella more than his other apprentices, for she was his daughter, he felt she would not deceive him. He gave her freedoms that no one else had, and spells he taught no-one else. By age 14 she already is the second-most powerful rider.
Her half-brother, as you know also became a rider that Galbatorix trains. Murtagh was also sworn after the dragon hatched. Gabriella watched inconspicuously from the side lines as her half-brother swore to follow the man she loathed, her own father.
