Scientific Explanation
I am a man of science. Every since I was a boy I've always been fascinated by how and why things work. Throughout my adventures it has almost always been my mind that has saved me. I believe there is a scientific explanation for everything that happens.
So why is it that a simple 19 year old human girl has such influence on me, a 900 year old Time Lord? What is it that her mere presence causes my palms to sweat? Why is it that her smile makes my hearts beat faster? Why is it that her touch feels like electricity? Why is it that when I'm with her, I can think of nothing else?
As I tinker with the TARDIS, I watch her out of the corner of my eye. She is playing with two magnets, a look of childlike joy as she tries to stop the two poles from coming together. I marvel at the fact that we're inside a machine that can travel through time and space, and she can still be impressed by something as simple as magnets.
"You can't fight it Rose," I tell her. "The universe wants those poles to go together."
"I know," she says. "But I don't care." As she speaks, I smile. I now know why she makes me feel this way.
Because opposites attract.
