I've always felt alone

As promised, and because I meant what I said, this follows the last story, "Beyond the End", after DH: it's short, a 300–word drabble, but is a beginning…

And as always it is submitted thanks to the help of Whitehound, a help that has been with so much more than with the language, these days.

So, she has told her tale: she has called it The Prince's Tale. She chose to show something of the truth which before she tried to hide. But, as ever, she didn't tell everything: perhaps nobody could have, but she surely didn't, leaving so much unsaid.

Before this end I said that I've always felt alone. It was true. I've felt alone as a boy, alone loving without pretending I was loved, until the very end.

I felt alone in my last days, witnessing with misery many more deaths; doing my duty even knowing that friendship wasn't the source of my master's trust, doing my duty until the last terrible moment, showing the same acceptance of death that brought the other boy life as a reward. I felt alone before dying, and young in the face of death.

Because, again, she wrote for me the tragic side of her story, thinking, perhaps, that by giving me these last memorable pages she could give me justice.

So few moments, for me, so little time to choose among my memories.

She made me living alone that moment, when the tiniest hope of salvation was hardly perceptible through a pair of shining green eyes, and the truth flew mixed with my blood towards the only witness.

There've been times she did not write of when I've felt less alone, but few know those rare moments of mine. Perhaps, feeling the care of everyone that wishes a different end for me, I'll be isolated no longer.

So here I am, in front of my death, but no longer alone; because I'm feeling all the eyes that are watching me, they were hoping for a true second chance, knowing the magic that could give more than this, and so I'm going on, beyond the end.

A/N: with my many thanks to those that have already begun that magic, giving him life again, or honour and peace.
