Mai and Pants?

A/N: So in the 'Doll House' case Mai thought that she should stop wearing skirts to work when Lin helped her out of the well since he could see her underwear (it's in the manga)… Well she stays in skirts and so I was thinking why? And this is what I came up with.

Disclaimer: If I owned my gas tank would be full right now

Mai got to her work early for a change, so that she could change into the jeans she had brought with her. Ever since the "Doll House" case Mai had decided that it would be best if she wore pants to work because if she had worn pants then Lin-san would have never seen her underwear (Bou-san still brought it up and that had been six months ago). The fact that she didn't own any pants suitable had deterred her for the six months, but she had finally been able to buy a pair of jeans.

Mai had to change quietly and quickly or Naru would demand tea before she would be able to finish. Once she was changed, she made tea for Naru and Lin, just to be nice. When taking the tea to Naru the man only glanced up to see what she was doing, Lin actually thanked her and seemed to ponder the fact that she was wearing jeans.

Returning the tea tray to the kitchenette Mai then started on her own work. It was not long before a new client came for an interview.

"Hello, you must be Gin-san. If you would please have a seat here I'll go get Shibuya-san." Mai greeted the man.

"Thank you" Gin replied.

After knocking on Naru's door and letting him know the new client was there Mai went to make more tea. Upon re-entering the interview room Gin started to compliment Mai with,

"You have very good coordination and balance, especially for someone of your age. I mean when I was a young man I could never keep my balance. Also it is nice that you are working, and in such a prestigious office… I was just telling Shibuya-san that it is nice to see such a talented young man working in an office, too many just want to play video games or stay out on the streets."

When Gin stopped for breathe Mai blinked.

'Did he just call me a boy?' She thought to herself.

She then did something she instantly regretted, she looked at Naru who had a very amused smirk plastered on his face. Lin chose that moment to walk in.

"So… oh you must be the young man's father." Gin said the once Lin was visible. This caused Lin to have a confused look on his face while he thought,

'Do I look so old that I could have fathered Naru? But yesterday a seventeen-year-old asked me out…'

Naru's face looked like it was about to give a real smile, but he caught himself in time. Lin was currently deciding if he wanted to be charged with murder or not. Mai came to the rescue.

"Lin-san, did you want tea?"

He grunted.

"Oh so he isn't your father?" Gin said

Mai blinked.

"Wait, you just said 'young man's father' right?" Lin asked trying to clarify the misunderstanding.

Naru was wisely staying silent since the moment he opened his mouth he knew he would crack-up laughing.

Gin looked a bit confused as he looked at Lin and replied an affirmative.

"So I thought that you thought I was Mai's father too?"

"?"

"Well when you said young man I thought you were talking about Naru." Here he indicated said person, "Not Mai." Once again indicating the person he was talking about.

"Y-Y-You mean… he's a girl?!"

Naru couldn't help it any longer and a slight chuckle escaped that he turned into a cough. Mai blushed fire engine red while Lin raised an eyebrow. Mai fled the room, only coming back out after Gin had left.

"Mai, tea."

"Yes"

"Oh and Mai… stick to skirts or something so that you are not confused with twelve-year-old boys."

"… Yes"

A/N: Ok so in the manga they said that they wanted to leave her in skirts because she was cuter in them, but this just came to me… let me know what you thought of it.
