Peeta was nervous. He'd never been more nervous for anything in his life. It was like waiting to hear who's name was going to be drawn for the Reaping. It was killing him. Katniss had been extremely awkward ever since they'd both fallen asleep in his bedroom. She hadn't talked to him, just like she wasn't talking to him now. Here they both stand, in the damned flame suits that Cinna and Portia had designed for them. This is it. I am going to die. Peeta thought bitterly to himself.

Slowly, he'd watched the tributes go out of the grand doors one by one. Glimmer and Marvel, then Cato and Clove, followed by the rest of the Districts until there was just himself and Katniss standing alone. She wouldn't look at him. A Peacekeeper had advanced towards them, a look of disgusts and annoyance displayed plainly on his face. It was time for them to go.

Katniss finally looked up at him. He could see in her eyes that she was upset. Peeta would have been too. If his mother and father had of been watching like her sister, her mother, and Gale were, he'd be worse than she was right now. Reaching forward, Peeta lit her outfit on fire. She glowed with a radiance that Peeta didn't believe was possibly. Attempting to hide is evident awe, Peeta opened his arms wide, allowing her to set fire to himself. Slowly, they both walked to the door.

At the last second, as the doors swung open for them, Peeta laced his left hand into her right. Cinna had mentioned it to him early, but told him only to do it when Peeta knew that she wouldn't jerk her hand away. They would be the only tributes that were displayed as one unit. His plan was brilliant, and so far, it was working. Everyone's eyes were on them, but Peeta didn't blame them. They were absolutely gorgeous, shining like two hot coals.

Peeta could hear his, as well as Katniss', name being called from every direction. It was unbelievable and absolute surreal. Before they knew it though, they were away from the screaming "fans" and in the gaze of their fellow competitors. Some jaws dropped at the sight of them. Some, like Clove from District 2, just glared. Quickly, Peeta turned off Katniss' suit, asking her politely to do the same. A raw thought crossed Peeta's mind. Just wait until they see what I have planned for my interview.
