'I can't believe Edward is cheating on me,' thought Bella with chagrin. 'I love him so much. He's my everything. My heart is breaking.'
"It's okay," said Alice, reading her mind. "He loves you. He's under mind-control. The Volturi are trying to get him to leave you because they want to turn you into a Vulturi. But I won't let that happen."
Alice is so great. Bella and Alice had become really close friends since Bella had married Edward five years before.
Just then, Edward walks into the room, and there is a girl with him. "Oh my gosh!" he says. "Bella! I didn't think you would be here!"
"Edward! I know the Volturi are controlling your mind!"
"No, they're not! I love Emily now. Her red hair and mesmerizing green eyes have bewitched me."
Emily looked a little bit like Christina Hendricks who plays Joan on Mad Men but with green eyes. Bella felt entirely inadequate in her presence. Her skin is porcelain like a teacup, and her breasts were full like twin moons, and her waist was almost as small as Bella's. She was curvy and beautiful, and she was a vampire.
Bella's eyes would have welled with tears if she hadn't been a vampire (vampires can't cry).
Just then, Alice had a vision of the future…
