I remember my sisters face as I called out to her from the other-side of our bedroom,

The smile on her face seizing to fade,

All the toys shouting out at us to be played with,

Waiting for their future to unveil itself,

And I remember the one day we got tired of our games.

I remember the day that one special toy broke,

The tears that fell into my fury sweater as she cried,

And all the shopping that came afterward!

I remember our cousins desperately pleading to play with us,

While we sat and stared at our toys,

Willing them to disappear,

Their games gone,

Their pasts pushed away into the back of our minds,

All so that we wouldn't have to play the game we hated most.
