"No Regrets"
Logan found himself in the bottom floor lobby of the theatre. He looked around for Xian but she was nowhere to be found. He went back upstairs to see if anyone knew where she went. Purna cocked her head to the side, towards the makeshift balcony in which they always came in and out of. Sitting there was Xian, gazing out at the city in silence.
He climbed out of the window and sat next to her. Xian greeted him with a smile and sighed out in exhaustion.
"I was looking for you. Are you okay?" Logan asked.
Xian nodded. "Yes. I just….keep thinking about Harlow. I hope we find her."
"Yeah….we have enough problems as it is with the dead. Now we have to look for her on the side." He sighs out in frustration. "Man….this just went to hell fast."
"I still can't believe this island is infected as well. I thought for sure we would make it back home….I guess some things were too good to be true."
"We'll get out of here, Xian. I promise. We just have to figure out how."
"I'm still worried about what Dr. Kessler said….what if something triggers the virus in us?"
"That's not gonna happen. We were on that other island for a long time, probably exposed to all kinds of things, yet nothing happened." Logan put a reassuring hand on Xian's shoulder. "Everything's going to be okay. We'll make it through this." he said with a smile. "Okay?"
Xian only nodded, a forced smile forming on her face. She suddenly chuckled and Logan looked at her with a confused look.
"What?" he asked with a raised brow.
"Do you remember when we first met?" Xian asked.
"Yeah., at the hotel in Banoi. Shit….what a fucking nightmare that was." He tilted his head. "What about it?"
"I was just thinking….about when we bumped into each other in the hallway. How you mistook me for one of the dead and I threw you over my shoulder." She laughed and Logan just huffed.
"Did you have to remind me of that? It's a bit embarrassing."
Xian chuckled. "Aww, you look so cute when you're embarrassed."
"Oh hush." He said as he finally gave in and laughed with her.
"Do….do you ever think about if we hadn't met? Would we have ever met aside from that moment? Would…..we be where we are today if we hadn't?"
"It doesn't matter to me." he said while shrugging.
Xian looked at him in surprise. "Oh….I see."
"It doesn't matter because we're together now. It's the present that matters to me, not the past. I don't regret meeting you and I sure as hell don't regret falling in love with you."
Xian put her head on Logan's shoulder. "Are we going to be okay?" she asked.
"To be honest….I don't know." Logan said meekly. "If I die today, or tomorrow…..or a few days from now, it wouldn't matter. As long as you know I love you, I'll die with no regrets."
"None at all?" Xian asked.
"None. You're my family now Xian….you and everyone with us through this hell."
Xian and Logan sat there staring out toward the city. Many thoughts repeated themselves through their heads over and over. It had been a tough road since Banoi and it was going to be an even tougher one here on Palanai.
(Couldn't really think of anything else for this one shot. It's rather short but if I ever think of anything else I'll just fix it up. Hope you guys enjoyed it. Please review, they make my day.)
