"Wow. You're getting really good at this,"

Worick finished signing the alphabet with Nicolas, surprised at how much faster he was progressing. It became a daily routine for them, sitting in the alley ways they started off with the alphabet and then trying to converse with each other with simple words and phrases. Every now and then Worick found himself stumbling and getting left behind in conversation.

"[Your signing is not good today.]" Nicolas signed to Worick.

"[Sorry. I'm really trying.]" Worick replied, speaking as he did so. He was glad Nicolas was able to read his lips at the very least. "You're much better at this than I am." he only signed the words 'you're better',

Nicolas took the sign language book out of Worick's hands and started to flip through it, looking at each page and mimicked the signs. Worick leaned against the wall of the alley way they were sitting in and looked out to the street. People kept passing by, going about their daily life. Only a few turned their heads to look at the boys. Out of his peripheral, Nicolas waved his hand trying to get Worick's attention.

"[Is this right?]" Nicolas signed for the word 'hungry'. He looked at Worick and waited for his answer, keeping his hands in the same position.

Worick nodded, "[Yeah]. Start lower on your body though," he continued by showing Nicolas the proper way to sign it, by starting lower at the chest and moving his hand downward. Nicolas mimicked the sign and looked at Worick, as he nodded letting him know it was correct.

Worick heard someone scream as looked to see a mother protecting her child as a car screeched to a halt in front of them. Yelling ensued from either side as to who's fault it was that almost caused the accident. Nicolas waved his hand again to get Worick's attention.

"[I'm hungry,]" Nicolas said, a slight annoyance in his facial expression. Worick smiled meekly.

"[Hey, that was good]," he answered. Nicolas glared at Worick and closed the book. He leaned over and hit Worick on the head with the book, letting it sit there until it fell onto his lap.

"[No, I mean let's get some food]" Nicolas signed as he stood up.

Worick grabbed the book and stood up, he reached into his pocket to count his change and looked at Nicolas. A grumbling sound came from his stomach, causing Worick to start laughing slightly. Nicolas looked at him with a funny look.

"Your stomach growled, it sounded funny," Worick said as he started to walk. Nicolas obediently followed, as food was indeed sure to follow.
