Hero
Someone who makes the right choice
No matter what it may do to them
Who shows others a better way
No matter what the others think
Leaving an example with each step they take
Doing their best; not allowing themselves to break
Because there are still others who need them
That's what a hero is
Not someone who makes every choice
According to what will bring fame to them
Who chooses any way
Leaving others on the brink
Doing everything only for their own sake
Often causing others to break
Because they never even notice others -
A hero is not any of that.
So why can't people tell the difference?
A hero is
Strong, no matter how hard it is
They keep going because others need their help
Firm in the path they are taking
Because it is the right one
They help those who need their help
Even if the other won't admit it
Setting an example of what we should be.
They are not the person who
Hesitates until offered something in return;
A true hero often refuses a reward.
A true hero does not waver in their path
When temptation asks them to take the wrong way.
They never turn down an innocent plea
Even if there's a chance they'll be discovered by the enemy
Because of it;
A hero is someone who cares.
So why can't we?
My hero is a man
Who took the time to tell me the truth
Even though he knew it might hurt
Because he knew I needed to know.
He is the man who guided me through life
Who showed me the right path from the wrong
And told me to choose for myself
Because he knew I would try my best to make the right decision.
He faced what I'm sure he feared most
And urged me to do the same
He helped me to not be afraid
He knew there was risk with each step he took,
But he took it anyway
Acting as the family I didn't have
And eventually helping me to regain that family;
He will not be forgotten.
