'Ouch, ouch, ouch! Watch it! Why are you so mad? I was defending you.'

'Miss Swan I don't need you to defend me I'm perfectly capable of doing so myself. And be glad I don't match your other eye for this stunt.'

"Ouch. Ouch, Ouch! Okay, easy. Watch it! Why are you so mad? I was defending you." Emma said, flinching away from the cotton ball Regina was pressing against her left eyebrow.

"Miss Swan, I don't need you to defend me. I'm perfectly capable of doing so myself. And just be glad I'm helping clean this up and not giving you a matching right eye for this stunt." Regina sneered as she dropped the soiled ball into the bin and grabbed another, soaking it in more rubbing alcohol. "You don't need to be the Saviour all the time Emma. I've survived my life up to this point and will live many years to come."

Regina pressed the ball against the cut, Emma grabbed her hand. "I know, but it's who I am. Those that are important to me, my family, are always my first priority." Emma took the cotton ball from Regina and pressed it against her cut, turning to look in the mirror "I really am sorry Baby." Emma said softly.

Regina turned away from her, tidying up the first aid supplies pulled from the second draw, she sniffed. "I know." She replied breathlessly.

Emma who was looking at her girlfriend in the mirror saw the change in her instantly. "Regina, baby, what's wrong?"

"You were lucky that this was the worst of your injuries today, a cut eyebrow, a black eye and grazed knuckles. You went up against my intoxicated forest-dwelling ex and 3 of his not-so-merry men instead of letting them just insult me. You could have been seriously hurt or worse…" Regina was crying by this point "I've only just found you. I'm not ready to lose you Darling."

Emma pulled Regina against her tightly, pressing her lips against the top of her head. "I'm not going anywhere, I'm right here. I'm fine, you're fine. I love you so much." Emma whispered, rubbing her hands along Regina's spine.

Regina nuzzled further into Emma, pressing her lips to the base of Emma's neck. "I love you too Emma"

Emma led them out of the bathroom and back into their bedroom. Pulling away only to change out of her jeans and button up for sweat pants and a t-shirt with 'Property of the Evil Queen' it was a gift from their son Henry.

"Do you have to wear that?" Regina said resting against the door way leading from the bathroom.

Emily smirked, nodding "Yes and I think you should put yours on."

Regina sighed, shaking her head. "Henry and you are lucky I love you both, to allow these insufferable shirts in the house."

She stepped towards her draws and pulled out her 'Property of the Saviour' and a pair of yoga pants.

"You know you love it." Emma smirks, wincing slightly at the pressure on her eyebrow.

"That's what you get for being smug dear." Regina smiled softly, before frowning.

Emma stepped towards her once Regina was dressed again, and pulled her close.

"Baby, I'm ok. I'll deal with the pain for the next few days and I'll be good as new. Please don't worry about this. I promise I won't go antagonising the situation any further, but I also won't stand by and watch you get hurt." Emma whispered, leaning her forehead against Regina's gently.

Regina sighed. "I know darling, I don't expect you to but please try to refrain from getting into fist fights. You're the Sheriff of this town and as such you should be setting the example."

Emma smiled gently and nodded against Regina. She stepped back slightly, letting her hands wrap around Regina's waist.

"Shall we head to bed?"

Regina doesn't respond just moves towards her side of the bed, flicks on her bed side lamp and slowly shifts the blankets down to climb in. Emma smiles at her again, and moves to turn off the overhead light.

Regina lies down with the back to Emma's side of the bed and sighs again softly when she feels Emma settle onto the bed, turning the light out.

"You do know that you don't have anything to prove, right?"

Emma moved closer, drawing Regina's tighter to her "I know, baby. What can I do to make you aware that I didn't do this for any other reason than loving you?"

Regina turned over, wanting to face her partner.

"Never change who you are baby, I love you. Can we move on now, please? I just want to forget about the forest dwelling simpletons and just sleep in your arms. Can we do that?"

Emma laughed softly. "As you wish, Your Majesty."

Regina giggle softly, slapping Emma gently on the arm. "You're lucky I want to sleep in your arms tonight otherwise you'd be on the couch. For the week." Regina snuggled closer into Emma's chest. "I love you, my idiot."

"I love you my Queen."
