"The Island"

Pearl sat on the sand, admiring the stars. Beside her sat Lapis, with her fingers intertwined with Pearl's as she too admired the cosmos. The two were quite a ways away from Beach City, which was by design. They instead found themselves on an island where Pearl had previously been to while on a mission, long before Lapis had joined the Crystal Gems.

Pearl had decided that the two of them needed some down time weeks ago, but their most recent mission had been so stressful that she finally decided that it was definitely time to make the trip. Lapis still hadn't become quite accustomed to Earth, but ever since she started dating Pearl a few months prior, Pearl had become determined to show her how magnificent Earth could be.

And so, Pearl had decided to bring her girlfriend to this island. It was truly beautiful here when they weren't here trying to capture corrupted gems. It seemed that the stars shone much brighter here than they did in Beach City. Here, they were bright enough to illuminate the island all on their own.

Pearl glanced over at Lapis, who was still examining the stars. She lovingly put her arm around her, pulling her closer. This sudden contact pulled Lapis out of her trance-like state. Lapis turned her head, meeting Pearl's gaze. Pearl gently tucked Lapis' hair behind her ear in an attempt to get a better look at her eyes. She noted how they reflected the light from the stars, giving her deep blue eyes the most beautiful sparkle. Meanwhile, Lapis wrapped her arms around Pearl's neck, pulling her closer until their faces were mere inches apart.

"Thank you," Lapis said, "for bringing me here."

Pearl blushed profusely. "Oh this? It was nothing. I just wanted to see you enjoying yourself," she said as her blushing intensified. "After all, I lo-"

Lapis cut her off, her lips suddenly meeting Pearl's. She pulled Pearl even closer, intensifying the kiss. Pearl wrapped her arms around Lapis' waist, unsure of how to proceed.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have-" Pearl interrupted Lapis, hungrily pulling her into another kiss. Pearl delicately brushed her fingers against Lapis' gem, sending a shiver down the shorter gem's spine. She responded by lacing her fingers through Pearl's hair and attempting to pull her even closer.

The two toppled over into the sand, desperately trying not to break the kiss. Lapis rolled both of them over so that she was on top. She left Pearl's lips and slowly traveled down to her neck, which she noted was growing warmer by the second. Pearl's grip on Lapis tightened in approval, spurring her onward.

Lapis worked her way across Pearl's neck, searching for a sweet spot. She smiled to herself, knowing she had hit her mark when she heard Pearl let out a small surprised squeak. Lapis zeroed in on the area, kissing and nuzzling it, intently listening to the sounds Pearl was making. She then worked her way back up to Pearl's mouth to deliver one final passionate kiss before pulling away. A smug smile formed on her lips at the sight of Pearl's deeply flushed face. Indeed, Lapis was very proud of her handiwork. She gave her a quick peck to the gem on her forehead before looking into Pearl's eyes once more.

Pearl was smiling a very satisfied smile. She opened her mouth to speak. "I-I…" Lapis grinned even wider, amused that Pearl had for once been rendered speechless.

"I love you too, Pearl."
