OMG! A one-shot. Me? I didn't think it was possible! =)
Dedicated to Silver Sailor Ganymede who inspired me by writing so many nowadays.
Warning: Some spoilers in here.
One word described them. The Seigaku Boys Tennis Club was unique, weird even and could be considered crazy. Sure they were a bit unorthodox but they meant well and they had the results to prove it. They trained hard, day in and day out with drills, matches and juice that made even their stoic captain shudder. But what they did, they did together. They were a team. They won together, they lost together, and they hurt together. When something good happened to one of them, they shared in it. They celebrated together. And when something bad happened…they were there too. They never abandoned each other.
The Seishun Gakuen Boys Tennis Club was tight nit. When Echizen Ryoma came along, he managed to sneak it through the cracks no so subtly. It was more like bursting through a wall. Nonetheless, he made a place at Seigaku. He earned a spot on the team and a place in the hearts of his Senpais.
When Momoshiro Takeshi and Kaidoh Kaoru joined their freshman year, they formed a rivalry that would not be broken along with what later turned out to be a parternship that surprisingly turned out well. When Momo lost his place on the regulars, he got upset. But his team was still there for him despite the change. When Kaidoh lost his memory, his team did what they could to help him get it back…albeit in an odd way but it worked.
Seigaku's third years were a tight nit group within the team. Tezuka Kunimitsu, their stoic captain, had been a strong player ever since the beginning. He played his senpais with a handicap and they didn't like it. When he was being bullied, his then fellow first years stood by him. Years later, they still do. Fuji Syusuke was their resident tensai. He developed a strong rivalry with friend Tezuka their freshman year and finally got an answer to his question in their third and final year at Seigaku. Though rivals, unlike Momo and Kaidoh, these two get along and have been friends as well as former classmates.
Oishi Syuichirou, Vice Captain of the team, forms a friendship from the beginning with Tezuka. Together the two make a promise to go to Nationals together and Tezuka does all he can to keep it to the point of injuring himself. So does Oishi. The two work together to lead the Seigaku club to it's destination. Also a third year, Kikimaru Eiji is a friend to his teammates and doubles partner to Oishi. The two are so incredibly connected they just seem to know each other through and through.
Kawamura Takashi wasn't always a regular like some of his other teammates, but a more recent addition to the line-up. He is quiet and softspoken but his good natured personality seems to sit well with this team. For celebrations they even go to this father's sushi restaurant. Inui Sadaharu is the last regular of the Seigaku stronghold. He was also there since year one and he never let things stop him. He got dropped from the regulars when Ryoma came in but his dedication to his friends and teammates led him to become the manager of the team.
No, team wasn't the best word to describe them. It was good, but not great. A team worked together, comprised of members who did what they could for the team. But what Seigaku was…was more than that. There is only one word that can describe them. They were a family. The loved together, lied together, and cried together…so to speak. They were there through the good and the bad. Family was the right word for them, one big, crazy, messed up family. Just the way they liked it.
A/n: There ya have it! A one-shot from me! Family is the one word I'd use to describe these guys. ^_^
And yes I'm on the verge of updating "A New Face in the Crowd". Promise!
