My name is Wrath. I have only memories of the last three years. Other than that is snippets of some other life that I don't recognize. I see battles raging around me and great forges at work. From what I can gather this is the life of a dwarf I see⦠apparently my life from before I started my service with the Raven Queen.
My earliest memory of my new life was hearing a beautiful voice calling to me to help her and then seeing a very startled dwarf holding a torch. I have since learned that the voice I heard was the Raven Queen's, the Goddess of Death. The dwarf who I saw became my mentor and closest friend.
Thoryndeme, the dwarf that saw me come into the world, became my mentor and my closest friend. A very powerful warlock, and thus schooled in the ways of death knew that it was the Raven Queen sitting on the cairn in front of him as soon as he saw her. He went to her but a second later there was a bright flash of light and I was there.
He was scared of me at first because he knew what I was and knew that my kind usually meant danger and death to those who encounter us. For I am a revenant, a soul of a long dead being transferred into a body of the raven queens making, the arm of a god on this material plane. I don't know anything about my past life or what my purpose is here now, only that I want to learn that purpose and explore the world until I find it.
Thoryndeme took me in and started teaching me the magiks of being a warlock. He also explained to me the current state of the world and how there was an unexplained army of undead roaming the surface. Thoryndeme suspected that there was a powerful lich coming into play that was controlling these armies for some reason.
Life with thoryndeme was bearable if not comfortable. We very rarely left the underground since there was a nice stock pile of food and we had access to water which was helped by the fact that I rarely ate or slept. When I did "sleep" it wasn't really what sleep is but more of a trance where I was still aware of everything around me kind of like the elven reverie. It was in this state a few months later that I sensed something amiss with my new home. I went exploring to investigate and came across a coven of vampires making their way toward thoryndeme. I ran back to him to already find hm in combat with some grotesque behemoth. He slayed the beast and started a spell casting that opened a portal up next to him. He told me to run through it to safety when he was skewered on a sword. I screamed and tackled him pushing us both through the portal that closed behind us.
We arrived in an alley that was hazy with smoke and we could hear screaming all around us. I got up to try and orient myself and when thoryndeme was still lying there unmoving I realized he was dead and that he wasn't going to be able to help me. It was at that moments that I swore to rid the world of this undead scourge and avenge the death of my best friend. I had found my purpose and my goal for this new life. It was time to hunt.
