A/N: I felt like doing something that had Finn in it to honor his memory. This one is kinda sad, and I apologize for that. I was listening to the song on repeat and this came out.
"May I have this dance?" Finn asked Rachel. She smiled softly and stepped into his large arms. The song was "So Close" by Jon McLaughlin, and it fit perfectly. They were at a point where they were so close to getting back together, but just not quite there yet. She had Brody, but Rachel had promised to save Finn a dance. They swayed together, and she rested her head on his shoulder. "I still love you, you know," he said softly. She rested her head on his shoulder, and they moved as one. "I'm with Brody," she responded, though her heart really did yearn for Finn. Their bodies were pressed tightly together, the two of them needing the comfort of each other there. They tried dating, they were on and off. But she had Brody back in New York, and at the end of this event she would have to go back to New York and he would have to go back to his life in Ohio. But they were close. So close. They had gone through so many hurdles. He started to sing the lyrics into her ear. And Rachel's heart cried out for him. She loved this man. So much. They danced as one, sensing the old feelings she had fought so hard to get rid of coming back with a vengeance. Later on that night, he found her playing "he loves me he loves me not" on a flower. "Come to New York with me. I can leave Brody, and we can be together," she says. "I wish I could. God, I wish I could. You know how I feel about you Rach. But I can't just pick up and leave. I started attending college, I'm kind of an extra Mr. Schue back with glee club. I can't leave my whole life behind to be with you," Finn responded. "I can't lose you again," she said softly. "You won't. I believe one day we will get our happy ending. And right now, it's so close. But still it's so far. One day though. I will come back for you," he stated. "I love you," she told him, a few stray tears falling. "I love you too Rachel," he said back, gently wiping her tears and tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. Their faces were inches away, and he just went for it. Finn kissed her, remembering the special unique taste of her lips that was purely Rachel. They acted like they were back together for the remainder of her visit, and it was so hard to part once she reached the airport. "We're so close to reaching that famous happy end. And almost believing this one's not pretend. Let's go on dreaming for we know we are..." he sang into her ear. "So close, so close and still so far…" she sang quietly back, kissing him passionately one last time before heading into the "ticketed passengers only" section of the airport. They would be together again. She knew that much, and so did he.
