Based off of a prompt on Tumblr. I think that the ending is rather weak, but hey at least I am finally uploading something on here. In this story Henry is supposed to be a toddler, so I tried to write his dialogue the way he would say it. If it is awkward or confusing, please say so, perhaps in a review. *wink wink*.
Regina Mills knelt down in her garden picking tomatoes while her son ran around her garden. Henry had lost interest in the tomato plants along time ago, a butterfly had become much more interesting. The iridescent creature landed in the top of the apple tree, so Henry attempted to climb after it. His mother noticed the child's laughter and turned around to smile at him, which quickly disappeared as she saw his attempt to climb. As the still giggling child fell from a branch he found himself in his mother's arms.
"Henry, what were you doing?" She asked softly.
"Da buttefwy was in da twee, I was gunna catch it for you mommy."
"Oh Henry, you're sweet but don't climb in the tree, it's dangerous for you. Come in the kitchen with me now, and we'll make some pasta sauce together."
"K Mommy." Replied a now contented Henry, as he snuggled into his mother's shoulder.
In the kitchen Regina had the tomatoes and several other vegetables laid across the kitchen.
"Now Henry, when I finish cutting the vegetables, can you put them in the pot."
"Yes mommy." Said an excited Henry as he kneeled on the counter. The two worked happily beside each other for several minutes, until Henry asked a question. "Mommy, why do we make guspetti sauce? Cause at da store, dey sell sauce."
"Canned pasta sauce is for peasants sweetheart."
"K mommy." Said Henry.
Regina and Henry decided to have lunch at Granny's Diner. They usually ate at home, but Regina knew that she had to walk among the citizenry as mayor. What better to observe the masses than at the local diner. She and Henry sat down in a booth and Ruby took their order. Henry watched Granny serving the customers, until one of her actions caught his eye.
"Peasants Mommy! Peasants!" the child laughed. Shocked Regina looked up, and saw Granny. She was taking applesauce out of the jar.
"Henry, haha, no don't, haha, say that." Reginaa tried to keep a straight face, but as her son grew happier, it grew harder. Regina broke down laughing, at her giggling child. She was very proud of her parenting.
