Declassified:

A Castle One-Shot

"Martha?" Beckett asked over the phone.

She had waited to call her soon-to-be family until after the hospital. Castle had been given the antidote and was now resting so now she stood outside in the waiting area.

"Oh Katherine thank God," said Martha. Alexis quickly ran up to her Grams who was on the phone. "You've been dodging me all day and then earlier when Richard called he sounded like he was saying goodbye. What the hell is going on? "

"I'm sorry it was need to know. I'll explain everything later. How soon can you get here? I can have a car pick you up at the airport."

Martha wanted to ask more questions but she could tell by the tone in Beckett's voice that whatever was going on was serious.

"We're leaving now," said Martha.

"Great, I'll see you soon," said Beckett as she hung up the phone.

"Hey Agent B, I'm-,"

Martha cut Pi off. "Where is he," she asked. "Where's Richard?"

"He's in recovery," said Beckett. "He's still resting."

"Recovering from what?" asked Alexis.

Beckett folded her hands and tried to sound as calmly as she could despite it being her fiancé behind those double doors.

"I was working on a classified case, the details of which I can't get into but Castle being Castle," she said shaking her head with a small smile and then returning to the professional state, "got involved. He was hit with a toxin that got into his blood stream and was given only twenty four hours to live. We were able to recover an antidote so he's going to be okay."

"Oh thank god," Martha said hugging Alexis from the side. She then reached out a hand to Beckett which she took. "And thank you Kate. I honestly don't know what my son would do without you."

Beckett smiled.

"Can we go see him?" Alexis asked.

Beckett nodded and the three of them, plus Pi, walked through the double doors and made their way to Castle's room.
