In every life...
Hermione shuddered, holding the note from Harry in her hand.
Harry was dead, killed in the Great Battle.
Hermione had been waiting for him, his promise of marriage sustaining her.
But the battle was over, Harry dead.
Dumbledore had come to her in the middle of the night.
He had come to her apartment near Diagon Alley, and given her the note.
The note was a note all soldiers had to write when going into battle for their loved ones.
Harry had written a note for her.
Hermione took the note and sat down at the kitchen table.
She opened the note, and shuddered again.
When she finished opening it, a voice, so familiar, started to speak.
Dear Hermione, Loved Hermione, My Sweet Hermione,
If you get this, I will no longer be in the world of the living.
I wrote this because I want you to know that I love you. I don't want you to cry for me. The only thing I'm sad about is not marrying you.
But remember, in every life, some rain must fall.
I love you.
Farewell my love,
Harry
Hermione looked up. Her favorite quote, the one she had posted on her bulletin board since 6th grade.
Suddenly, she started to cry. She cried for the first time since she had gotten the news.
But these tears were not of sadness, but of gladness.
Farewell, Harry...
