Summary: Axel confides in Roxas.
A/N: Hi there. : Please review. Even if you didn't like it. It helps. (Just don't be too mean, I'm sort of fragile. ;D )
Inspired by the song of the same title by The Darkness.
Disclaimer: I did not profit from writing this, I do not own the characters, etc.
I BELIEVE IN A THING CALLED LOVE
As they sat on the clock tower, the setting sun made the sky a brilliant pink, with a sliver of orange at the horizon, where the sun was dipping out of sight.
"You don't seem worried," he said after a while.
"About what?"
"Everything," he said, stuffing the sea salt ice cream back into his mouth. He at least had the decency not to make something so simple seem scandalous, and still it worried him that Axel watched, clearly fascinated.
"Well, Rox, I like you, so I'll let you in on a little secret," he said, checking over his shoulder at the huge face of the clock and down below their dangling feet at the people in the square making their way into the train station.
Roxas nodded, not that bothered by his stupid precautions. He was used to his eccentricities by now, but didn't understand his occasional request that they hold hands. "Okay," the blonde said, and Axel shimmied a bit closer to him, pale face tipping in to reveal the secret in a whisper.
"I already have a heart," he said merrily, returning to the half-melted ice cream he'd been neglecting. He slurped it noisily as it dripped down onto the pavement under them. The red head willed it to fall on Bowler Hat Man, who he had kept an eye on for some time.
"No you don't," he replied dejectedly, letting out a sigh.
"Yes," he countered, "I do."
"No."
"Do too. 'Cause I believe in a thing called love," Axel drawled, grinning like the Cheshire cat himself.
"Huh," said Roxas, giving this serious thought. "Love?"
"Yeah," he said, as if admiring the broad scope of the thing.
