'Welcome Back Kotter'
Lily Humphrey hated washing dishes almost as much as she hated eating carbs, so naturally she couldn't help but be surprised when she found herself washing various pieces of cutlery after having eaten two waffles. What really surprised her was that she really didn't hate a second of it. Dan, Serena and Olivia (who really was a lovely girl, despite their first rather unfortunate meeting) were bitching about KC on the sofa, and Jenny and Eric had gone off to purchase their Halloween costumes. She didn't know where Rufus had gone to, which was a bit annoying since she only enjoyed washing dishes when they did it together. But her annoyance quickly disappeared when she saw two hands (one sporting the wedding ring that stated to the world that he was married to her) shove a Freddy Boom-Boom Washington cup under the sink. She smiled up at him before continuing with the washing-up that was suddenly far more appealing.
'I didn't get a chance to properly thank you earlier.' He stated before grabbing the still dirty fork from her hands and shoving it into the dishwasher. 'You do know that you don't need to manually wash all these things, right? That's what this great big machine is for?'
She glared at him before continuing with their conversation. 'Thank me for what? The fact that I let you be so rude to me.' She couldn't help but twist her lips into a smirk after she made her final statement.
'No.' he drew out the os as her wrapped his arms around her waist from behind. 'I wanted to thank you for bringing my mugs.'
'Oh, that.' She answered, closing her eyes and leaning against his chest. 'Well, I noticed they weren't in any of the boxes you packed, so I took a little trip to Brooklyn and voila' she picked up a mug from the sink and resisted the temptation to splash him with the water that was still stuck inside. 'Four 'Welcome Back Kotter' mugs. Honestly Rufus, I wasn't going to let you leave these behind. They bring back so many memories.'
'Yeah, ones I thought you'd want to forget. These were the first, and hopefully only, things we ever stole.'
'Well, you did force me into it. You really were a bad influence.' He laughed at that, turning her around in his arms.
'As soon as I suggested taking them, you shoved two in your purse and ran off, cackling hysterically as you opened the door.'
'I cackle, huh? Rufus Humphrey, are you implying that I'm a witch of some kind?'
'Yes, my witch.' She smiled serenely before leaning forwards and brushing her lips against his.
'Anyways, thanks. You bringing them really means a lot to me.'
'I want you to feel at home here Rufus. And I thought these mugs would help.'
'My home is wherever you are.' He stared at her for a few seconds, letting the words sink in before he kissed her again, this time for slightly longer. 'What do you say we make our way upstairs.'
'Rufus! We have a guest, who happens to be a very famous actress, and our children also happen to be home.' Rufus kissed her again, and she could feel her arguments flying out the window.
'So.' He challenged, pulling her in closer. 'We didn't get a honeymoon, so I think we reserve the right to disappear for an hour, maybe two.'
'You make a very persuasive argument.' She grinned before meeting his lips and allowing him to drag her towards their bedroom, the 'Welcome Back Kotter' mugs lying, forgotten, in the sink.
