The One Who Named Me
"Natsu," someone said surprising the teen whom started to doze in his arms on the table. In front of him sat Lucy and Gray, Erza sitting next to him and eating her beloved cake.
"Hmm?" he hummed, raising a delicate pink eyebrow towards Lucy who had woken him up from his light doze.
"I know this is sudden and all, and quiet random, you don't have to answer if you don't want to of course, but I was thinking… was it Igneel who named you or your parents?" she asked with a small tilt of her head. This gained the attention of Gray and Erza who pretended not to hear the small conversation going on between their two teammates. Natsu sighed, sitting up straight and stretching his aching muscles.
"Neither," he yawned as he returned to his earlier position, eyes closed but still listening to what Lucy had to say next.
"Then who did?" she asked with furrowed eyebrows, quiet confused at the answer the pinkette supplied her with.
"Hmmm…" he trailed off in slight thought as he remembered the person who named him. "He said his name was Zeref." As if on cue, his three friends stopped what they were doing just to stare at him with wide eyes, all three shocked beyond belief.
"Zeref?!" they all shouted in unison, the pinkette cracking open an eye to stare at them as if they had three heads.
"Yeah, that's his name…" he said slowly, wondering if they were deaf or something if they obviously didn't hear him the first time. He shrugged as he closed his eye once more. "He was the only one who didn't push me away. Before him I thought I was some type of demon or something alike to a monster, but he was the one who showed me that I was wrong." he paused and let loose a small chuckle while a smile slipped on his face at the only memory he had shared with Zeref. "I was only with him for a week at most but he was the one that taught me that kindness was real and not some fairy tale." He sighed heavily and stood up.
"Zeref was… nice to you?" Gray asked, quiet astonished by the fact that such an evil wizard even knew how to show kindness, even knew what it was nevertheless! Natsu nodded.
"Of course. But once the week was up he told me he had to go and that I couldn't follow him and I never saw him again." he finished, a small frown on his face as he remembered how torn he was when Zeref told him that. The frown didn't last long before he was smiling at his friends brightly. "Let's go on a mission!" he didn't give them much time to think on the matter before he was already tearing off a mission off the mission board and showing it to Mira.
