Discription: Dan struggles to find the perfect present for his girl friend for her birthday. Time passes and the date approaches. He still has no idea what to get her! He soon settles with distracting himself in the hopes that the perfect present will just hit him in the face. Boy was he wrong all he did was waist time and now he only has a half hour to get the birthday Preparations ready.
"Bakugan Brawl!" I hollered at the top of my lungs
I was itching for a good win, but of corse I always won. I could here all the fans roaring in the stadium calling my name and edging me on.
"Kuso! kuso! kuso!" they hollered
Their chant revived my lost thoughts and brought me to the present, away from my clouded thoughts about finding a good birthday present for a girl. I was completely stumped buy that notion and in the 16 years I had live I still had no clue what a girl would ever want, let alone Runo.
Drago materialized in front of me. his blazing figure always intimidated my enemies. He let out a low roar that vibrated the ground.
"Are you ready Dan!" he called down to me on my pedestal in his deep voice
"You bet I'm ready!" I hollered back. I was ready to kick some ass.
"Bakugan brawl!" I heard the other brawler yell from the other side of the stadium.
The crowd roared and it began.
Drago and I decided to start the brawl of easy, to rough him up a little bit before dishing out some pain.
"Ability activate!" I yelled, " dragon slicer!"
Drago's wings and claws began to glow red. energy pored off him like a heat wave. Our opponent was an aquas Bakugan. he looked like a roman warrior complete with an arsenal of weapons. I had never seen a Bakugan like this one.
"Aquas Perseus! A formidable opponent for a pyrus dragonoid such as yours Dan kuso!" my opponent said
He was right his Bakugan had just as many gs as drago! this was going to be tougher than I thought, but I stood my ground. no one had beaten me in three years! I was invincible.
It was a fight to the finish for the both of us. I almost lost but I pulled through. By the end though, we were both completely exhausted.
I was breathing hard when I walked up to him. he was on his knees hunched over and clutching his chest. he had black hair that was messier then mine.
He wore a blue shirt with white stripes. and navy blue cargo shorts.
I held my hand out to him and said," that was intense. your pretty good you know that."
"Well" he breathed "I learned from the best... well... almost the best. you took down him to!"
"Can I ask who?"
He took my hand and I pulled him up. he put my hand on my shoulder to steady himself. he was still wheezing.
"Hey are you ok man!?" I asked startled by his lack of strength
He pulled an inhaler out of his pocket and sucked in to lung's full of the medicine, held his breath, and let it all out slowly. after that his breathing slowed down quite a bit.
"I have asthma!" he said
"Oh..."
He then took his hand off my shoulder and stood at his full height. He towered over me buy at least 10 inches. I burned with jealousy. I had always been average height but lately all of my friends have been sprouting up a head of me. even little Marucho was now only an inch shorter than me. I don't seam to be getting any taller and that pisses me off.
"Spectra," he said "I learned from spectra."
"Oh... are so from vestal?" my jealousy began to fade a little, at least he couldn't see it on my face any more.
"No... I'm as human as you!"
"Oh...k."
He started to walk away. I watched him walk down the steps of the arena and down on to the ground. he turned back to me and waved saying," You won't win next time kuso!"
"Anytime anywhere! I'll beat you again and again!" I called down to him and started off in the other direction.
I felt my phone buss and then chirp. I pulled it out of my pocket and looked at the screen. I gasped. I had a half an hour to get home, shower and get to Marucho's for Runo's surprise party. then I smacked my forehead, I still didn't have a birthday present for her!
I was rushing from store to store looking desperately for any thing that she may want. But I found nothing.
"Your running late as usual." drago said from my shoulder
"I know I know I know!" I yelled back at him
"I'll go look for something to give her if you want." he said
"Yes! she'll kill me if I don't bring something!" I yelled nervously
Runo always made me nervous. she was so violent!
Drago laughed and flew off in the opposite direction. I took the opportunity to run home as fast as I could and take a lightning fast shower. when I was down I threw on some nicer clothes and ran out the door yelling," I'm leaving got to go bye!"
"Be careful Dan!" I heard my mom yell after me
I ran over to Julie's house to see if she was still there.
She had recently moved to the house right next to mine witch was convenient sometimes when she brought me cookies or had a cook out in her back yard, but most of the time she was like any other Nieghbor.
I mocked of the door furiously while hoping to god that she hadn't left yet, because I was not running all the way across town to Marucho's in khakis. her sister opened the door.
"Is Julie here?!" I asked
"Yeah hold on." she said
"JULIE! YOUR BOYFRIEND IS HERE!"
"WHAT! I'm not here boyfriend!"
"Suit yourself."
"IM COMING DONT GET YOU PANTIES IN A BUNCH! GOD!" I heard Julie scream from some where in side the house.
"Thank god!" I thought to my self . she could drive us both there. I had my license, I just didn't have a car. my parents didn't have enough money.
With in a time I wouldn't think would be humanly possible for any one let alone a girl who had just woken up Julie had made it down to the door fully clothed with a lot of makeup on and ready to go with her car keys in her hand.
"Let's go it almost about to start!" she said, "you do have a present right!?"
"Umm..."
"Dan!" I heard a familiar deep voice call
"Drago! thank god your hear!" I exclaimed
"Hello human" said another Bakugan next to Drago
She was also a dragonoid just like drago but she was haos. she looked suspiciously like wavern but I knew she couldn't be because wavern was gone.
"I'm not happy about being used human." she said
She was definitely not wavern.
"But I am eager to find a brawling partner. Your Bakugan says you know one?" she said
"Yes! I do! but we have to go!" I said and then I hopped into Julie's car and told her to step on it.
We pulled in to the drive in front of Marucho's 20 story tall mansion. it was coated in windows the reflected every thing around it. I got out of the car and Marucho rushed out of the front door.
"Your late!" he cried, "we've been waiting forever Alice says Runo's getting suspicious!"
He leaned over and put his hands on his knees. he was breathing hard obviously exhausted because of worry.
"Don't sweat it Maruch! we are here now so call Alice and tell her it's ok to bring Runo back." I reassured him
He nodded and went in side. Julie and I followed. I was always stunned by the sheer enormity and extravagance that was the inside of Marucho's house, even though I had been in the house so many times. the ceilings were tall and the walls were white. their were paintings all along the wall like an art gallery and the floor was covered in expensive tiles that matched the moldings and the statues further along down the hall way. he even as a zoo in his house complete with hump back whales but we didn't see any of the animals that day.
We all went in to hiding later that day. shun made me hide in the closet closest to the door, which did nothing but make my go completely insane because I'm claustrophobic. I could hardly sit still in there let alone stay quite. So I ended up ruining the whole thing.
"Dan, what are you doing in Marucho's closet?" Runo asked with border line annoyed look on her face.
"Ummm..." I said
I ended up getting so fed up with the closet that I burst through the door, but I knocked Runo over in the process. she fell backwards an I fell forwards. her head hit the floor with a dull thud and then not even a split second later my teeth connected with her skull.
Luckily for her her head was harder then my teeth, but unfortunately for me my teeth weren't hard enough. I tasted blood in my mouth and spat out three chunks of different teeth and one felt like it was going to fall out.
I moaned and held my mouth trying hard not to swallow the blood. I looked at her and she was moaning and holding her head, but thankfully she didn't look that hurt. she was really mad though.
We ended up having the birthday party another day, of corse right after I had run around looking for a present and been all stressed out about it.
This time I was prepared though. I was getting ready in my room when my mom barged In my room.
"Mom!" I said with a slight lisp from having recently messed up my teeth.
"Your going to be late again!" she told me
"No I'm not! I've got plenty of time!"
"Dan it's ten till one!" she showed me her watch
"Shoot!"
I need up throwing on a red plaid polo and calling it good. I tried to fix my hair but there was no point it remained messy as usual. I grabbed Drago and the other dragonoid and then stuffed them in to my pocket. drago didn't protest he new I was just in a hurry but the other one though protested profusely. I ran out the door calling to my mom the usual good bye then mounted my bike and took off.
I got there exactly on time but the party had already started with out me.
"Dan you late!" shun told me when I walked in
"No I'm not! this is the time I was told to come!"
"We've been waiting for an hour for you!"
"What! I was told 1:00!"
"You must have heard wrong because it started at 12."
"What!?"
"I'm so sorry Dan!" Runo's mom cut in,"i didn't realize until after I sent the invitations that there was a typo on some of them! I spent all last night calling the people that didn't have the right time. I must have missed you!"
"It's alright Mrs. Misaki! I don't mind really!" I responded
"Humph!" Runo snorted as she walked past me
"Hey I'm sorry I didn't know it started at 12!" I apologized to her
"Wait, are you still mad about last time?"
she responded with a glare and a sharp slap to my cheek. I probably do served it even though I don't know why.
After that Runo and I ignored each other the rest of the time. Julie kept trying to get us to talk but I just stared silently into my third piece of cake while while Runos glare bore holes in to her sole that made her shut up with I tiny whimper like she was a puppy being kicked.
Soon enough it came time for presents. we all sat down in Runo's living room a crossed from the big reclining chair that had been placed in the center of the room with the presents from every one stacked around it.
I sat down in the floor cross legged with one leg shaking while I stared at Runo. I pulled the haos Bakugan out of my pocket and held her tightly in my hand to keep her quite. she squirmed a little but eventually she settled down.
Runo looked at the tags of the presents around her then turned and glare at me. she was probably thinking I didn't bring one but I just planed to give her mine last.
She opened the all and I could see fake enthusiasm on her face. I knew something was upsetting her greatly but i knew better then to push her in her current state.
When she finally came to the last one I prepared my self for mine. when she had finished every one else started moving around. they thought she was finished.
"Hey hold on she's not done yet!" I called out to every one
"Huh?" shun said
I turned to Runo and said, "I wanted to give this to you personally. I stepped close to her and held her hand before putting the Bakugan inside.
"Are you proposing!?" Julie cried out interrupting the only good moment I had had with Runo so far this party.
"WHAT!? NO!" i roared completely appalled by her accusation
Then something happened I wasn't expecting. Runo graves the back of my neck and pulled me quickly close to her then our lips connected and I was surprised at first but then those emotions melted in to pure bliss.
When she let go of my neck I pulled back and sat down on my hunches and blushes all the way down to my Adam's apple.
"From the first time they met..." I heard a deep voice announce
Then shun finished with, "there were fire works in the air!"
"SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!" we both screamed at the two of them together.
